"Name change, Construction and no Coffee! I wish we had been told that this property was in the process of becoming a Hampton Inn and was under construction. We would have stayed somewhere else! Construction dust everywhere. The room was clean but housekeeping missed things every day. We tripped over a pizza box left outside a room down the hall for two days. Opened the window to let in some fresh air but had to close it after a few minutes. The stench of trash from an adjoining property was intense and filled the room. The Hotel offered a free Breakfast of Coffee, Tea and Pastries. On our last day they had no coffee. No Coffee! Someone couldn't run out and buy a can of coffee? Made zero sense. The neighborhood was sketchy and grimy. The one positive was that the Staff was very nice. I would never stay here again."

"Too busy. Atrium area is like a train station. I dont like tipping in genral, but especially not for serving staff that dont make an effort - but when it is 20% already on the ticket most people dont want to make a fuss. Desk staff were quite good. Rooms were basic/functional Rooms cleaned nicely each day Weird thing with the bar/Starbucks going on. Never managed to get a starbucks because the que was too long. This is a shame because the destination fee is used as a credit for this and if you dont use it, you lose it"

"I didn't like the auto 20% gratuity at the restaurant, but the food was good if not over priced. Cleaning staff was great. "

"Broken elevator for 3 weeks! I almost had heart attack had a few anxiety attacks my first room was on the 9 th floor when elevator broke after I almost died going up and down 4 times in less than 1 hour the front desk staff moved me to first floor for my last week of a 4 week stay I stayed here till I left my nyc job a stayed here after selling my apartment but deskstaff was the best the maid service was horrible I bought my own towels and clean my own room the owner should be ashamed not to fix an elevator in a timely fashion I work in high rise residents and we get elevators fixed with in hours not 4 weeks again staff is awesome and management / owners are horrible"

"The continental breakfast isn't fresh and lacks variety but if you're a tourist in a hurry just looking to grab and go it's adequate. Surrounding neighborhood is rough but not unsafe and only a few stops/less than 10 minutes on the subway to Manhattan. Also only 20-30 minute walk to hipper neighborhoods."

"Great property close to Times Square. Rooms are small with no fridge or microwave, but this is an old, historic, well-kept property that we would definitely return to. Get to know "Bobby the Doorman", he's been there for 47 years!! Breakfast at Friedman's was great."
