"Beautiful property! The pool area, gardens and views are amazing. The rooms were clean and the bed was comfortable. The only downside we experienced was the pool area is small compared the number of guests the hotel accommodates, so if the pool area was busy there was a line to get a lounger or a seat which was a bit disappointing."

"We stayed in a room outside of the house. We did not get to experience the beauty on the inside other than eating a very good breakfast in the front room. Our room was muggy and not very nice. Would we stay here again… probably not. Beautiful home, would have a better experience if we stayed inside the home."

"This was the perfect hotel for us. The services were very good. The AC worked very well, both in temperature control and speed. The previous hotel had a one speed fan, high and very noisy. So this was a huge relief. The comfort made up for the aging of the carpet and furniture. No biggy for me."

"Check-in staff was very welcoming and the stay included a gift of chocolates and one of their brews. Complimentary parking and easy access to walking trails is a huge plus. Room is located in a heritage house. Our room was on the main floor and sound does travel from hallways and upper floors, but it did not affect our enjoyment. The bed was quite comfortable and room was clean. It would have been nice to have an electrical outlet in the bathroom, or a mirror in the main room near an outlet. A...

"This is about our tenth year to stay at the Helms. It's a well-situated hotel steps away from the BC provincial museum and on the edge of James Bay. Love the inner courtyard. We have always found the staff helpful and I don't think a year has gone by we haven't seen some form of maintenance going on to retain the property's value. The only downside is .... book early! It is that popular. You do not want to wait too long. Rod Link"

"I had a nice kitchenette in my room which I didn't expect. The place is an older building, but it has been renovated very well. The staff were excellent. Exceptional value for the price. I would definitely stay there again."

"The windows in our room were so dirty that it was hard to see the view. The rug was thread bear and had a hole that had been poorly repaired with the rug pad showing through . The gardens may have been lovely in years gone by but clearly aren’t getting any attention now. For almost $400 Canadian/ night I would expect more attention to detail and care for this beautiful old home. I won’t return"

"Located in Downtown itself, walking distance to the Harbour area, valet parking available but sometimes the front waiting area might be full esp if you are on peak season, clean rooms, kitchen has all the basic amenities, best for families"
