I am genuinely shocked at how far the Westin Calgary has fallen.
The room was filthy. Not “a bit worn” or “dated” but dirty. The chair had bizarre, clearly visible stains that made it unusable, and the overall cleanliness of the room was unacceptable for a hotel charging premium rates.
To make matters worse, my wife actually cut her hand on the metal door guard, which was sharp enough to feel like a knife edge. That is not just poor maintenance, it is a safety hazard. Completely unacceptable.
Sleep was nearly impossible. All night long we could hear the elevator moving, every trip up and down, echoing through the room. For a hotel that markets itself on comfort and rest, this was laughable.
The price would be hard to justify even if the experience were average. Instead, it was substandard in every way. Nothing about the stay felt special, elevated, or worthy of the Westin name.
The Westin used to be a great hotel. Sadly, those days appear to be long gone. I will not be returning, and I will strongly cautioning others before booking here.
