Parking is first come first served. We had no issue. We did go around twice as we missed the entrance. Room was clean and comfortable. We would have liked a firmer mattress. Loved the wonky bits of the building. Breakfast was lovely. Good choice of everything and we asked if we wanted more. Great atmosphere in the bar, seems popular with locals. All staff were very friendly and chatty.

Location good, everything close by and withjn easy walking distance. Off road parking. Dated but quaint building. I had an end room with such weak water pressure that a shower was very slow. Nice breakfast but overpriced. Limited menu but I had very good fresh fish and chips for lunch. Staff all friendly and helpful.

Great location in the centre of Chepstow. Staff were really friendly on arrival and the whole place looked spotlessly clean. However, I’m not sure which bit of the room was soundproof- at 3am I was woken by a guest in the next room, chatting about his friends’ sexuality… to himself! At 0530 I was awake again by people in the creakiest corridor known to man, after which I couldn’t sleep due to noise of other guests leaving… it all sounded as if they were in the room with us! Just after 0930, housekeeping was knocking the door, to check we were in there apparently!! I loved the place… but rooms are definitely NOT soundproof, and I need my sleep!!

Single room (10) nothing like the photos on the website. Old, dated & heating did not work. I called reception at 5pm to be told that heating was on a timer & would come on at 7pm. Went out at 6, came back around 11 & heating still not on. Was freezing all night, had to sleep with a hoodie on. Cancelled reservation for 2 more nights. Would not stay here again

One issue was the en-suite.The toilet was too close to the radiator,which was on full temperature making it rather dangerous.Also felt excessive cost for charging EV vehicle.Having said that we were made very welcome,all staff very friendly,and helpful

The staff were fantastic and really helpful, the bar was a nice comfortable place to go. However! Parking was extremely limited - there are only a handful of spaces so we had to use the local pay and display. The room decor was quite dated. The bed was solid, squeaky and the bedding itself uncomfortable. The shower pressure was so bad we couldn't use it. The room in general was quite dusty. This hotel is fine for a one night stayover, which is what we booked it for, on our way to our final destination but wouldn't recommend for a longer stay. I must reiterate - the staff were all really lovely, and the bar a nice place to go. We didn't try the food but it smelled really nice.

Staff are amazing, comfortable stay, would definitely stay again when at the races. Customer service when an issue arose after the stay (not the hotels fault) was excellent

Having read the reviews we were a little apprehensive about booking but the location was were we wanted to be and as it was just 1 night we decided to give it a try. We booked a double room and it was made available to us early. The welcome on reception was really good. Climbing the stairs to the first floor to find our room, the pattern on the carpet does it best to hide tgat its threadbare in many places. The room was compact but had ample tea and coffee and a floor standing fan. There had clearly been an attempt to refresh which sadly didn't extend to the small shower room. Simple regrouting, a new basin and tap and a soft close toilet seat would've made a difference but the main complaint which is key for a hotel was the mattress which is clearly cheapnas when your partner moves so do you and the shower which to call it that could breach trading standards! However, the plus points are the staff who are lovely and really go the extra mile to make sure you're okay, the food which was great, husband had the beef for sunday lunch and said it was the best he's had in ages and the location. A little bit of investment would makeva massive difference to customer experience and ratings.
