"We arrived for an overnight stay at the Crown and mitre on April 30/2025 . The first room we had ( 303 ) wasn’t at all to our liking or what we had expected it was old, tired and in need of some TLC . Thankfully to the Hotel Manager Ellie we moved to a room on the second floor . We were really delighted with our new room on it was evident that this room had been refurbished it also had the most beautiful and comfortable bed we had a great sleep . The Hotel has a fantastic indoor swimming pool...

"The staff were friendly, and helped with assistance when I had booked the wrong date. This is the only positive point to this hell-hole of a 'hotel'. The room itself was tiny, and had last been decorated circa 1974. The beds were just about passable for the price, however walking around the room risked a serious head injury due to the incredibly low ceilings. Only Warwick Davis would find the ceiling height adequate. Although the hotel didn't have a

facility, it did however have a sauna....

"The Halston is a top of class self-catering hotel centrally located in Carlisle. If you want to see the city and bask in luxury, the Halston is the place for you. The reception staff is warm and helpful, and the bedding/towels are the fluffiest. And if you want to save some money, the excellent cooking facilities should enable you to pick up a few things from the local M+S or Tesco and cook a good meal. Highly recommended for anyone who has just walked along Hadrian’s Wall."

"Stayed in a triple room for my Daughters graduation. Warm welcome on arrival by Melanie. The room had everything in needed for a comfortable stay. The hot water bottle and foot

were a welcome bonus. Room was a little cold as the heating only seemed to be on at certain times but it is November and its a big house. Would stay again if in the area."

"This is our second stay here as we loved it so much the first time. Warm welcome, beautiful grounds, gorgeous rooms in a traditional country mansion. There is a walk along the salmon river to the fishing hut before you return to the sitting room with a real fire and a G&T at the honesty bar. We loved exploring the wildness of the walled garden with bee hives (you can buy the honey back in the house) and free range chickens and raspberry bushes laden with big, fat fruit! Our dinner was...
