"The property is an old building and we both thought that the rooms could do with a bit of an update - the bathrooms were very modern. The rooms and hotel were spotless, the staff were absolutely superb - so kind, helpful and polite. It was a lovely idea to have free bottles of water at reception when we arrived with the weather being hot. "It was a nice enough hotel but I didn’t like the fact that you were charged for everything. The rooms were clean but fairly basically kitted out and for the luxury market they are aiming for they are slightly missing the beat. The service was ok but a little slow or not quite on the ball. Staff were friendly but temporarily lost an ice pack of mine, forgot my gluten free toast at breakfast and gave me a tiny tiny pot of tea that was half full for breakfast. "The hotel is essentially a leisure complex. The rooms clean and tidy but for a family four small. I was surprised to discover considering the age of the property there was no AC. We were offered fans which were barely adequate. There are no lifts in the property and manhandling 6 suitcases was a challenge. Good onsite parking. The standout of the visit was the staff. Excellent. Also the food was surprisingly good and reasonably priced"

"This hotel has seen better days, though I would hazard a guess that they were a long time ago. It needs a lot of work doing to it to bring it in line with modern hotels, even budget ones. Having a double room with the bed pushed up against the wall, so you can only get out on one side is a really poor layout. The bathroom was really quite grotty and the room just felt grimy. I was only staying because my flight landed after all the trains had finished running, but one night was a night too...
