Remarkable staff and property. Private quiet secluded and not too over the top. The staff was so accommodating, so I suggest you tip them very well, and then double it whatever you thought was a great tip double it. I love these people and there was a true sense of Zen Buddhism, even though Chiang Mai has a lot of pollution that settles over the cities landscape all the way up to the mountains of ching rai, where the 2 best sancuaries exist for tigers & elephants (best is a no touch elephant experience , but they can touch you & they will & did. You cant help but touch them back. Such amazing creatures) then there's tiger kingdom for rescued BIG CATS; make sure they were fed before you enter the enclosure with their kind camera man and the snack feeder (tastes like chicken; food is for the cats. I suggest tje cubs, the female white tiger & the bengel male. Don't be nervous, or they will sense it. Don't turn your back! Look the gorgeous animals in the eyes...). This was all setup by the amazing host/concierge at The New Empress (not original one). The old is beautiful. The New is Very Nice, yet modern. I enjoyed my room with many views of smoke covered Ching Mai... (smoke is everywhere in the golden triangle, perhaps a seasonal crop burn... ) & the gift bag i received checking in was great & lasted the several days i was there. I enjoyed sharing it with many emploees. Such kind people, all of them. I'll be back some day!
