The property was understaffed! The reception clerk also went around emptying garbage, bring things to the room and handing out disinfectant when requested. The front desk staff was never actually at the desk I had to call each time I needed help the air conditioner/heater was very loud in my room and the temperature was a little clammy. I appreciated having a full-size refrigerator. I did not know that I had to request for my bed to be made up and clean towels, so I had to wait once I got back to the room in the evening.

My status with this hotel chain happens to be the highest level thanks to my stays at the Radisson Blu. So, the night I walked out of my room and heard the front desk dude going off on someone immediately was less than ideal… when I got to the desk and saw that it was a very demure young woman who was simply trying to book a room and getting berated (then apologizing to him profusely for whatever absurd excuse he had to berate her… like reprimanding her husbands AAA card, who was outside at the time, wasn’t cool. When I heard the commment he made to his friend “do you even understand what these people are saying with their accents??” I went outside and asked if she was okay then helped her book a room next door. Later I came back and another woman was trying to book a room and the way he talked to her wasn’t necessary when the simple answer was “we’re sold out “ - she wasn’t white either. Like me. I honestly thought I’d get an attitude when I walked up on the first encounter but he helped me without problem. I booked this place last minute after finding out that the Renaissance and Marriott branded hotels were sold out for a convention lasting all week. That phone call I mentioned that I’d seen more spiders in that room than I can count. Along with a few other pests. Booked another hotel and only refurned to pack up my paperwork at the desk. My legs were covered in bites that warranted a complaint with the city. Bed bugs or carpet beetles. Now scabs. Don’t stay here

The room was dirty, and the premises were sketchy. Nearly every surface of the room was sticky or greasy. The sheets had a stain, the bathroom sink was clogged with visible gunk, and housekeeping never came by (after a week). There was also no Wi-Fi or service, contrary to the website description. The premises felt sketchy because the outside doors didn’t lock, and people loitered outside the building and in the hallways. Finally, the younger man with messy hair at the front desk was surprisingly condescending and unhelpful. I actually left halfway through my stay for another hotel. I’ve never written a review for a hotel before, but my experience at Mainstay Suites Schaumburg warranted it.

It was a great place if you like the ghetto. Within a minute of parking my car, and walking away, people surrounded my car trying to get in. Noise all throughout the night, and noisy people always in the halls. Will never stay again.
