This was our first time staying at a hotel this small and it was wonderful. Not sure if they are all like that but the staff members know you by name and are super attentive. Because the hotel was so small there isn’t a whole lot to do on the property which makes it easy to choose to relax which is exactly what you should do on vacation anyways. Food was actually pretty good in my opinion. They have made to order breakfast included which was my favorite out of the three hotels we stayed at.

We stayed for 7 nights and ate almost all our meals at the villa restaurant. We are pescatarians and they were very accommodating, however, the we did run out of new options quickly and the quality of the food ranged from excellent to poor. All other aspects of our stay were excellent!!!!! The service, amenities, rooms, pool, staff friendliness, etc. were top notch. And, the surrounding area is absolutely beautiful. We took the Hidden Beach private boat tour and it was phenomenal. We had a day hike around Coco with Jennifer which was so much fun, enjoyed the Secreto Lovers Spa Treatment immensely, rented a dirt bike from Papagayo Holidays in Playa del Coco and drove to Brasilito which was so much fun. We visited Playa del Ocotol, a wonderful beach for both exploring and snorkeling. There is so much to do in this area. Each beach is unique. I highly recommend the Villa and the area. Pura Vida, Buena Onda!!!!!

Service with a smile!

Enjoyed 3 nights here and it was not early enough time. Everyone ... I mean everyone there is friendly and focused on providing excellent service during your stay. They provided our itinerary and scheduled all of our taxis and transfers to airport which is so much closer than expected. The spa is amazing and so private. They also support two schools with supplies and uniforms so it’s nice knowing the community is positively impacted. Our new home away from home for this couple.

Best place in Costa Rica

I absolutely loved it here! I was scared to travel alone and wanted a hotel that was all-inclusive and small and quiet. I'm so glad I found this place. The staff were really great and friendly and made me feel like a little sister instead of a guest. Alex, Jeniffer, Cesar, Carlos, Francisco, Javier and Christian and all of the staff even the drivers were wonderful and pleasant and made me feel very comfortable and safe. The hotel is beautiful and well-kept. The restaurant had delicious meals. Even if I was late for lunch or breakfast the waiters and chef still accommodated me and I appreciate that so much. I loved my stay here and can't wait to go back.Thanks guys!

The small size of the property was an asset for us because we were looking to relax in some peace & quiet. The property is the type of place that is quiet at night and where you get to know the rest of the guests (only 8 rooms). We left extremely happy, but the charm of its size may not be for everyone. The property is as pictured. Although we appreciated the small size of the property, there are inherent limitations when several people would like food / drink / assistance and there isn't enough staff to go around. While this wasn't the norm during our stay, it is worth noting that you can't get in a hurry here. *wink*

This eight room boutique hotel has gorgeous landscaping and views. The rooms were clean and nicely furnished including a super comfortable bed. I only wish the room had a mini fridge. The staff is very helpful and friendly and catered to all our needs. A few dishes in the all-inclusive food plan where excellent and most were good, but not what I consider top-notch. I did appreciate the willingness to accommodate my dietary restrictions.

Exceeded our expectations

Villa Buena Onda exceeded our expectations. Each meal was delicious, satisfying, well balanced and meticulously plated. Every employee that we met greeted us with a warm smile and welcoming heart. The facilities are beautiful, clean and well mantained. The views are spectacular and It was a joy to learn about and enjoy the Costa Rican ecosystem. We thoroughly enjoyed massages at their Secreto Spa and delicious drinks at happy hour, daily. This is a true gem perched atop a mountain. We will most certainly return. Until next time, Pura Vida!

The perfect relaxing getaway

This was the absolute perfect Costa Rican getaway for my fiancé and me. We spent the first half of our trip at one of the larger all inclusive resorts, and this was infinitely better. We stayed in an ocean view suite and it was absolutely perfect in size and was clean and comfortable. I couldn't have asked for a better room for the price. The staff was unbelievably friendly and helpful and available for everything we needed. They also provide a daily shuttle to and from the various beaches which was the perfect way to explore. We didn't do any excursions from this hotel, but they have tons of info available and were able and ready to help plan trips. I honestly cannot recommend this place enough. The food is FANTASTIC and yes, the drinks are an additional cost, but they are reasonably priced and are large and not made with cheap liquor like they are at some of the all inclusive places. If you're looking for a relaxing and private getaway, this is the place for you!

Beautiful, Luxurious Villa With Amazing Staff

My boyfriend and I stayed at Villa Buena Onda for a week in March, and we would recommend it to anyone! Shelley, Diana, Christian and Javier were all so personable and kind. They made us feel right at home and we didn't have to lift a finger! The villa was beautiful, clean, and had a great layout. We had privacy when we wanted it, but could also interact with other travelers/staff when we wanted to be more social. Shelley was incredible. Two weeks before our trip, I realized I had booked our flights a day before we booked the villa! She graciously switched the villa reservation with Expedia so I didn't have to worry about it. She was a great resource while choosing our excursions and schedules. She really listened to what we wanted to do, and recommended the perfect excursions and activities for us! Transportation was a breeze. All we had to do was tell Shelley or Diana what we wanted to do, and they would arrange transportation to pick us up right from the villa. The food was also divine. They had great variety and a nice mix of both local fare and North American options. Each meal was an experience in itself: trying different things, enjoying the fresh produce and seafood, and relaxing while enjoying the beautiful view. I would recommend Villa Buena Onda to anyone who wants to have more personal and intimate accommodations, while also getting the same luxury and service from a traditional resort. Perfecto!
