The location of the guest house was excellent. Within walking distance of the University and old town, and with a variety of restaurants close by. It was surprisingly quiet for being located directly on a major road. We loved the Sabores da Romeira restaurant. Be warned—the portions are HUGE. Even the locals were taking home doggy bags. The room itself was adequate, but felt more like a hostel than a hotel. There was good security—the code for the front door was routinely changed, and there was a code to enter our room. It was a bit difficult finding the recommended parking garage, so a map would be helpful. There is also not much space to park in front of the guest house in order to drop off luggage. While there is no breakfast provided, each room has coffee pods and a mini fridge and guests are allowed to use the coffee maker, electric kettle, and microwave in the kitchen.

Amazing location, with parking closeby. Staff were very friendly and offered advise tailored to our interest and visit. Room was clean and very welcoming. Would definitely recommend this hotel, just pop over the bridge to Coimbra.

Great location and lots of room for the price. Area around sao bento felt slightly less safe and I did encounter a few unwelcome advances at night but otherwise great location and place.

Excellent stay

Beautiful guest house just across the bridge from the old town. Very welcoming and helpful host who gave great advice on where to go etc.

We travelled all over Portugal and this was easily our favourite accommodation of the trip. Sofia was so friendly and welcoming and let us check in early which was so helpful. The room was so nice and comfortable and the view was amazing.

We spent 3 nights and had a great time. The guest house was a perfect base to explore Coimbra and the surrounding area and Sofia was so helpful both with local suggestions and our later travel plans. Would highly recommend

This was such a pleasant place to spend our one night in Coimbra. Super walkable to explore the town from. Street parking was a breeze and free. The host who checked us in was so warm and welcoming and gave helpful information on the area. Definitely felt like we got a great value for the price of this stay.

We were impressed by the restoration of the building such that important updates such as noise cancelling thermal windows and other features were done and that the hostess was very helpful friendly and full of information to make our stay so good. Very clean as well.

Ótima localização

A casa de hóspedes é antiga e fica perto da ponte que atravessa o rio Mondego. Os quartos são de bom tamanho e confortáveis. O check in foi feito por telefone e com códigos de acesso. A Sofia foi muito solícita e orientou-me como localizar a hospedaria.

Everything about the guest house was great, except for the mattress. It was a bit uncomfortable, but okay for a two night stay. Directions for arriving, dropping off luggage and parking were made clear once we had arrived, but prior notice via email would have been helpful. Good restaurants just across the street. We would stay here again.

Great guest house in Coimbra

Santa Clara Guest House is perfect for a visit to Coimbra. Great location, clean and well equipped rooms. Sofia on reception was friendly and helpful. She gave us lots of information and some good recommendations for breakfast and dinner. There is a free underground car park 5 minutes from the guest house. Highly recommended

Hotel muy nuevo cerca del centro

Se trata de una antigua casa restaurada con mucho gusto. Está todo muy nuevo y se encuentra muy cerca del centro, tan solo cruzando el puente de Santa Clara. El personal del hotel es también muy agradable y dispuestas a ayudarte en todo incluso intentan hablar en tu idioma, lo que se agradece. Hemos salido muy satisfechos de este alojamiento porque además el precio es inmejorable.

Comfy bed. Neat, tidy and clean. Fresh fruit available. Bright and spacious. A little tricky to find the first time, but this is more to do with the way google maps depicts the area (and how tired I was when trying to read the map 😉) than the directions received. Very responsive host. Would stay again!

Great place and location

Great place to stay, just across a bridge from (and view upon) the Old Town of Coimbra, hence much quieter (with double-paned windows). Renovated yet with charm. Comfy beds. Good sized bedroom, functional bathroom. Great welcome as well as help (where to park, eat, shop...) Free coffee, but no breakfast at property; available at several places across the street as well as just at the entrance of the old town.
