"This location is perfect for us. We didn’t eat at the restaurant upstairs this time because Portland does have a lot of great choices, however, it is good food, and I love the possibility of that. The room was clean as could be the bed was comfortable – I like everything about this hotel except perhaps valet parking."

"Staff were so nice, and so welcoming also very helpful with explaining where things were. The spa was so relaxing and the ROOM was BEAUTIFUL. I got the sky loft and even the laundry was complimentary. They have you pay for parking in the lot next door. But you’re not guaranteed to have a spot when you get back because apparently it’s open to the public as well? That was confusing and didn’t understand why there was a needed fee."

"The Mark Spencer is not what it was. We have stayed here I think four times and the most recent visit likely will be our last. First kudos to the staff for being solicitous and very helpful. However our room was not cleaned well. We found an old soap wrapper in the bathroom, some lost headphones under the bed, and a spent coffee packet in the coffee maker filter basket. "Water pressure was strong. Such a plus for an old hotel. Staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast was not memorable. Unhoused are rampant in the area. Choose where to go. Valet parking is $59 a day. best to valet to be safe. There’s a speakeasy in the hotel but wasn’t able to get in."

"The room was clean and spacious and the location is great. But it's a real bummer not to be able to make tea in my room. I woke up hours before the cafe was open. Also staff's suggestion that I use street parking was not super helpful as the max time is 2 hours. I found a pay lot a block away where I could have parked all day for relatively cheap so that info up front would have been helpful."
