"The Snug was very comfortable and well equipped. It was also very clean. I could not work the shower but I did not contact the owner so I am sure it would have been sorted if I had. It was only three nights and there was a bath so I did not. It was well located, quite near to Matlock Bath. The bed was comfortable and it was well decorated throughout. "

"Fabulous stay. Lovely, spacious, spotless twin room with very clean, modern en suite. Everywhere is extremely clean and very well maintained. Plenty of parking and a fantastic outside area for sunny days. Staff very friendly and helpful. Generous meal portions and absolutely delicious! We joined in the quiz night and were even greeted warmly (and helped!) by the locals. We will definitely be staying again!"

"The staff at The Bear Inn are terrific: it’s a family-run business and nothing was too much trouble. You soon will get to know everyone’s name a they will remember yours; it’s the little things that set a small country Inn apart from the bigger and soulless enterprises. Check-in was easy and, although we originally planned to stay for a couple of days, we were made so welcome, decided to stay for two more. "The hotel was very clean. Staff couldn’t be more helpful. Never stayed at a Days Inn before but would certainly stay with them again. Although the hotel was on the m1 we didn’t hear any traffic noise. There was no restaurant at the hotel but services was next door"

"We enjoyed our stay at Makeney Hall. The first night we arrived late and the couch pull out bed had no sheets or blankets. The front desk staff was very kind and went and found what we needed and we were very grateful. The room was nice size and the grounds were very beautiful."

"Staff were polite and welcoming. The lady at the desk in the dining room took time to walk around checking guests were OK. I gave an overall 4- star because my request for late check-out wasn't effected and I had to go back to reception to get it implemented. "
