Really lovely stay. The room was spotless and exactly as we expected. Twin room with en suite shower and bath, situated above a tea room in Bonsall (approx. 5 minute drive from Matlock Bath). Decor was fresh and clean, bed warm and comfy and clothes storage more than adequate. Hospitality tray with hot drinks and biscuits and a selection of toiletries. The breakfast was outstanding. Amazing find and would highly recommend and definitely return.

Stayed for one night following a visit to chatsworth, arrived late and key was in the aafe which was good. could not have breakfast had to leave early..only stayed one night as no-one got back to us to say we could have two,.just one problem, the step down into ensuite a bit dangerous for the elderly as we are otherwise fine. our lunch was great particularly the homemade soup.thankyou

Lovely breakfast served by some lovely ladies. Convenient for attractions in Matlock. Parking was an issue but we discovered as we left that there was a village car park which we probably could have used.

Fountain Cafe stay and eat

Ideal location for exploring the Peak District. Lovely quiet pretty little village. The room is above a fabulous cafe where the food was great and the staff were so helpful and informative, they gave us some great tips on where to visit. Highly recommend this place and the cafe.

Great location in the peaceful village of Bonsall but also close to facilities. Very comfortable room. Breakfast was superb. We’ll be back!

Not what we were expecting

Cannot comment about food or bed comfort as we decided not to stay. At 10.30 in the evening when our adjoining room occupants returned, we could hear every word they were saying! It did not feel very private! We chose the Fountain Tea Rooms because of the good reviews, however, it is on a busy Road junction with a fair amount of traffic and we were also concerned about leaving our car on the road or in the village car park. We booked for 2 nights but no offer of a refund for at least one night. Disappointing.

The room is immaculate, there are nice touches like ground coffee and a french press, first time I have had this even in £500+ a night rooms. There is plenty of free parking on the street outside. The only thing to be mindful of is that there is a big step both into the room and the bathroom for those with reduced mobility like myself - this is in addition to the 6 steps i was aware of. There is no aircon or fan so we opened the bedroom and bathroom windows and it was fine. Old school air con! We couldn't connect to the TV with our phones for netflix etc, however in the end we had a quiet night, which was much more relaxing and enjoyable. So this is not a bad thing, switch off, relax and reconnect. Enjoy a quiet country walk instead or chat to your loved one! I highly recommend the local pubs, especially the Barley Mow but please book if you want one of their amazing pies. Real cider to die for! Breakfast is between 8am and 11am (checkout time) and this is served in the tea rooms below. There is a good menu and you can get a full english (both vegan and non), or granola if you prefer. Plenty of teas or coffees to choose from. I had the small breakfast plus black pudding and it was more than sufficient, the full breakfast would set you up for a full day's walking without any problem. Staff were very friendly and coffee nice and strong. Having reserved tables was also a bonus. Overall, I would recommend.

Lovely bed & breakfast. The Tea Room Owner is extremely welcoming and friendly. Shown to a very spacious double room, clean & comfortable. Had a great nights sleep, very comfortable bed. Breakfast was served in the Tea Room, great choice, quality ingredients cooked perfectly. Would highly recommend

Relaxing stay.

Exceeded our expectations, location perfect and accommodation had everything needed for a comfortable stay. Loved having breakfast in the tearoom down stairs and the ladies who served us were lovely, friendly and helpful. Our only disappointment was that we stayed Monday night and missed being able to eat in the tearoom as it is closed Mondays. Would certainly hope to visit again and stay longer.
