"Booked 2 rooms 8 months ago for a one night stay due to going to an event early on Sunday morning 19th July 2026.
Arrived at reception to check in to be told that they only had one room and that the booking system had allowed over bookings which we were told is quite common ??
A very poor apology from reception so they told us to go over the road to the holiday inn and just give the surname in and they would have a room for the second party.
Got to say the staff at the holiday inn were...

"Such a lovely hotel with lots of history, 8 minute walk to the town. Beautiful decor and extremely friendly and helpful staff from the reception staff to the bar staff. They upgraded our room for free due to a celebration booking and could not have been more lovely. Thank you!"

"The staff, in particular, the receptionists including the charming Lithuanian girl, were so helpful and informative.
The food was pretty good as well and well presented.
Having had to slum it in a rival establishment a few years’ ago, when there was no room at Poets Corner, it was a relief to note how well looked after we were."

"3 problèmes la première chambre la clef ne fonctionnait pas, retour à la réception la 2e clef ne fonctionnait pas également! Un janitor est venu pour essayer de réparer il a resserrer les vis tenant la porte alors que le problème était électronique. Découragés nous sommes retournés à la réception et on nous a donné une nouvelle chambre. Dans celle-ci la climatisation ne fonctionnait pas mais elle a été réparée en 5 minutes, don en résumé plus ou moins une heure pour avoir une chambre correcte....

"WOW! What a stunning place! Which we highly recommend a stay here.
From when you initially arrive at the property and travel down the drive you can see the wonderful gardens and beautiful views.
We were checked in by Millie, who showed us to our room, which was amazing
Unfortunately the restaurant wasn’t open, but they did do meat and cheese boards, which we shared one of each, and certainly were not disappointed by the taste and variety.
The staff are friendly and attentive, without being over...

"The hotel was situated in town centre. Walkable to the river, local attractions and restaurants.
We had a lovely stay and they have a small spa located next door which we used one morning.
We did not eat breakfast there so unable to comment on food, the rooftop bar was lovely for drinks.
Our door was difficult to open but staff were helpful and efficient."
