"State Plaza is an excellent hotel for location to the Lincoln Memorial and National Mall. You are on GWU campus, so very walkable, and more affordable-priced shops and restaurants in the immediate area. For the price, the room and amenities are excellent. The room is spacious, including the bathroom and kitchen. I also thought the front desk staff and doormen were nice. My two complaints are about breakfast and parking. Most importantly, the staff needs to communicate better with parking. Not only was I verbally told to park at Statesman garage around the corner, but I was even given a map with the directions to the correct place. The parking garage was unattended and dangerously small. I hit a pillar in the garage that busted my taillight and scratched my car. But when the alternative was hitting another car, I'll take it. Then, at 10:30 at night, I received a call from the front desk that I parked in the wrong garage (even though it was absolutely the right garage, I have the hotel-provided map to prove it) and needed to move my car to the hotel's own garage. So someone gave me the wrong information where to park. Fifty dollars for one night of parking in a tiny "we're not responsible for any loss or damage" garage is obscene. And as far as breakfast, don't do it. There were 3 of us in the room who spent $30 TOTAL at a cafe 2 blocks from the hotel. It would have been $35 PER PERSON for the hotel breakfast. Not sure what they offer, but that hardly seems worth it."
