"Breakfast okay"

"Location was good. Even though it was on a busy intersection, room was quiet when ac was on. But ac was very noisy. We could also hear people walking in room above us (sounded like they had heavy boots on as they were stomping across the floor). Shower was not as clean as it should have been. Shampoo dispenser was empty. When tv didn’t work, staff member on phone was not helpful and had a bad attitude. Breakfast food area was not kept clean even though it was not busy. "For the price, the hotel isn’t terrible, but could definitely use some upgrading and maintenance. The elevator moved very slowly and was loud like it was struggling. The A/C in my room was very loud and barely blowing, and the ceilings in my room were cracked all the way around and down the middle. Property was clean overall, but definitely needs some work."

Only one (of two) working and it was either so slow or full of cleaning staff with huge piles of linen on very small trolleys. So I walked up and down fire stairs to my fourth floor room. "The Bookhouse is a wonderful concept! Prioritizing books, making them accessible everywhere, is delightful. There were adventurous and playful touches, including the secret hide-away on the first floor, behind a bookcase. Housing a hotel in a very old house is another terrific choice. The restoration process is clearly in progress; it's understandable that it's a long-term project. Drawbacks were largely fixable. "Staff screwed me over by cancelling my 3 night stay because I had to check in virtually the first night due to complications…and would not refund my money. Contacted hotel, Expedia, and hotel parent company all refused to help receive a refund. I purchased trip insurance and this doesn’t qualify apparently. I had to book another hotel last minute and cost another $400 plus the money they refuse to refund."

"This disgusting dirty hotel (can't really call it that!) is a disgrace! Looks like the rugs haven't been cleaned in years! No plastic cups in the bathroom to use and when asking the clerk at the desk he couldn't find any anywhere! The idea of a light breakfast is a joke! The soda machine takes your money but didn't dispense any soda! Called a studio with a kitchen, but no plates, silverware, pots or pans or anything to use or cook with! I would never recommend this place to anyone!"

"Front desk and restaurant/buffet staff were excellent. Super kind, considerate and helpful. Room was just ok. Bathroom is painfully cramped. Bathroom floor was flat out gross with shoes sticking to floor. Door to room was difficult to lock from inside and door creaked and groaned upon opening and closing… not on par for a $200+ per night hotel."
