We had a night out in DC and chose not to drink and drive, so we booked and paid for a room ahead of time. When I (female) went to check in, I was told I couldn’t because of the time—even though the room was already paid for. Then my boyfriend went in right after me and had no issue getting the keys. The front desk worker, who appeared to be a gay male, was noticeably rude and dismissive...

"It took a very long time for the shower to get hot. There are no hooks near the shower door to hang a robe or a towel. the vanity is a bit small to lay your towel on. You have to reach in to the back wall to turn the shower on and get wet while you try to turn the handle to the proper temp. No shower body wash only soap bars. The bed was very comfortable and the staff is great."

"This is a gorgeous hotel converted from the famous Riggs National Bank of Washington DC. It is elegant, comfortable and accomodating. The food at Cafe Rigg (we had breakfast) was superb. The hotel is close to Metro (Gallery Place), museums and theatres as well aas several really nice restaurants. We will stay here whenever we come to downtown DC."

"Viceroy has nice rooms with basic amenities. The shower head is pretty lacking. The housecleaning staff did a good job. The front desk personnel are not very well informed. They are courteous. One of them mislead me on availability of parking. One day they had some form of jackhammer going next to my room and the receptionist did not even make an attempt to find out what it is. All I got was a shrug. I had to leave for a few hours. The good thing is that it is close to the Mall and all...

"Great choice for a short stay and if you're on a budget. My room was on the 2nd floor and facing H Street, so the only drawback was that the street noise was a bit loud. However, overall I really liked my room (it was so cute) and the location was great. Very walkable to eateries, museums, etc. I'd definitely stay there again!"
