The rooms were lovely and cozy, the bathroom was spacious and clean the bed was comfortable, location was great for where we needed to be I would definitely stay there again!

We had a wonderful stay at the funky monk. It’s a very convenient location with good access to the central line. The staff were very friendly. This is our new place to stay when we are in Essex.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We had an amazing stay at the Funky Monk Epping Hotel and Restaurant. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with a complimentary welcome drink, which was a lovely touch. The room was absolutely amazing; comfortable, stylish, and spotless. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, making us feel welcome the entire time. The restaurant was outstanding, the food was unreal and easily one of the highlights of our stay. Everything was perfectly cooked and full of flavour. We couldn’t fault a thing. Highly recommend the Funky Monk for both accommodation and dining. We’ll definitely be back!

A beautiful old hotel in the heart of Epping. The decor is really nice and the staff are warm and friendly. The room has everything you need and the bed is comfortable. The food (breakfast and dinner options) is exceptional. I would highly recommend this hotel.

We asked hotel to confirm we could have a parking space, they confirmed by email but neglected to mention it would cost £15. Check on was great, friendly person and helpful. Room was nice but metal clothes rack by bed didn’t leave much room and I bashed my knee on drawer knob. Venue was not great for sleep, they had very loud music until 01:15 an we did not sleep well as road was also loud from quite early. Breakfast was ok but staff were everywhere still cleaning up, kept walking past with cleaning products and hoovering and mopping while we were eating which wasn't very nice. Person that served us was nice but manager was nowhere to be found and didn’t appear for check out so having to leave feedback here. Would not recommend staying here on a weekend. Shame as could have been lovely.

This is a lovely boutique hotel with quirky rooms and decor situated in a lovely little town with some lovely little shops and cafes . We especially loved Gail’s bakery ! The staff were very friendly and helpful but be Prepared for loud music and parties into the early hours as it’s a popular weekend and Christmas venue ! Would definitely stay there again !

The hotel provides a lovely space to spend time. The service was excellent with great food served in the room. We particularly liked breakfast being served AFTER 0900 allowing for a sleep in and relaxing morning to check out. A rare treat

Very welcoming and friendly staff. Offered us a welcome drink which was lovely and we could use our rooms to drop our items as they had already been cleaned which was very helpful as we were in the area for a wedding. The amenities and room were great and bed was very comfortable. We were told that there would be live music until 11.30 and drinks available downstairs in the bar until 1pm but weren’t made aware of the loud music that would be playing which did continue until 1:30pm - we were staying on a Saturday night so am sure this wouldn’t be the case if staying on other days. We arrived back late from the wedding anyway but I wish we had been aware of this prior to booking as I had to stay awake for a good hour until the music was turned off. I would recommend staying here but if you don’t want to be involved in the late night music, it would be best to stay here outside of Friday and Saturday night.

The accommodation was lovely and the staff were friendly. However, I've given 4 stars as breakfast isn't served until 9am - we used the hotel for business purposes so a late breakfast was unsuitable, given the cost breakfast should have been available.

Parking is very limited. Rooms were dark and small and in need of renovation. The bathroom was freezing and extremely small. There was no hot water. The breakfast was nice and the staff were lovely.

Mixed feelings about this property! My room and bed was very comfortable, the towels were big and fluffy. The staff were lovely... however, the kitchen closed so we had to go elsewhere for dinner, and no staff was on hand when I awoke the next morning and had to hand in my key to the cleaning staff.

Rooms are very well appointed, comfortable food is great and the welcome is genuine and professional. One issue is the noise from the road, as the room I was in looked out over the high street, the traffic is pretty constant until late in the evening and starts up again very early in the morning. I believe because it is a very old building they are not permitted to change the windows but perhaps secondary glazing might be an option.
