"This is a really old hotel, fully upgraded and worthy of it's 4 stars. Lush carpets, modern furniture, plenty of space and storahe. We were upgraded to a deluxe room, how posh is that, everything is so comfy, staff will do anything for you, within reason. It is very handy for the local shops and theatre. I will return as this is luxury."

"Property looked amazing until taking a closer look especially the bathroom, the bath had not been cleaned properly and had hairs in it and there was mould on the ceiling. Could do with a heated mirror or better extraction as the mirror took ages to clear after showering. The staff at the cafe were all helpful and the food was excellent."

"Beautiful hotel with an amazing history. Upon arrival we received a very warm welcome, the staff were exceptionally friendly and very helpful throughout. Our room was prepared by Lindsay, Jo & Sally and they did a remarkable job it was immaculate. Extremely comfortable king size bed and the shower was fab, superb water pressure. Great bar area to relax in before dining and the breakfast choice catered for everyone. Thank you for a wonderful stay and most certainly we will be back. "

"Comfy and spacious room even though it was on the 3rd floor, with no lift. Good exercise for one with mobility issues! Lovely views of the meadows from the room, easy to bird watch. "The propert was lovely, our room was modern and up to date. The beds and pillows were so comfortable and clean! The bathroom was so lovely and clean. I loved that you didnt have to go through the pub to get to the rooms although there was a walkway into the pub at the bottom of the steps if you wished too. Staff were friendly and very helpful. "

"This hotel is very conveniently located in the centre of Chlemsford and it is only a short walk to the mainline train station, which has excellent and frequent Greater Anglia train services to London. The hotel staff, especially the reception ladies, are very friendly and pleasant, helpful and accommodating. The breakfast buffet has now been replaced by a freshly cooked to order offering, for which you need to allow extra time. My only gribble was the breakfast coffee was tepid."
