"Everything was fine! Nice, clean, new, great view south from high floor room, staff were all very helpful and pleasant. Why four stars? I guess I just expect a lot for the very high rates charged, so of course a comfortable king bed and nice towels are only what one would expect. And a spacious room with a chaise is nice, but paper cups for coffee service and bare clothes racks instead of a closet are more Motel 6 than luxury, that's all. "Great location and very convenient to everything. You can tell the hotel has been recently renovated, but it’s not a luxury stay. If you want a reasonably priced place where you’ll mostly just sleep and spend your days out exploring, this is a great option. The staff was also super friendly and welcoming."

"Overall, our 2 night stay at the Silversmith didn't meet expectations. I wasn't expecting anything fancy as I don't seek out "fancy" when booking a hotel. I just look for clean and comfortable with very good service. Unfortunately, this was not the case at the Silversmith. The room furnishings were rather worn, the bed was soft, the pillows were very lumpy and the curtains were not attached properly. "The property was in excellent condition and excellent location on the riverfront and easy walk to Michigan Ave shops and restaurants. The only downside is that this whole area is extremely loud well past 3am(loud motorcyclists, cars revving and loud music from passing cars). It was impossible to sleep much, even though the room was new, fresh, and clean. If you're used to city noise, you'll love it!"

"The lobby are was beautiful. When we got to the room it was OK but not quite up to the standards that I expect from embassy suites. The room wa clean but the bathtub had rust and the soap dish was crusty. The ring around the fire sprinkler was falling off.
