"Firstly, I didn’t make use of the ‘amenities’. I was visiting parents who had moved house so this was literally a place to rest my head. That being said, the restaurant staff were lovely as I arrived late when l they were finishing shift so helped me find keys and get in. The room was decent - comfortable bed, shower and separate toilet. "We stayed for 1 night whilst in Buxton to see a show at The Opera House. Our usual hotel was fully booked so though we’d try The Old Hall. The accommodation areas are bordering on dilapidated. Characterful no longer applies. We spoke to other guests and they found the same with one even without a working shower. Major staff shortage. "Loved this place. The setting is beautiful as was our room. A real mixture of old and new that worked perfectly. The staff were really friendly and attentive and we truly felt welcome. We opted for the pie for dinner and I can honestly say, it was the best pie I have ever eaten. The pastry was amazing and it was filled to the max with the ham and leek. "It was perfectly situated in the centre of Holmfirth with easy parking individual to your stay. The staff were wonderfully friendly and helpful. Our room and ensuite were stunning"

"Room was adequate, the heated towel rail was on the other side of the bedroom wall so the bedroom was uncomfortably hot, even at night - but the wife preferred this. The bed was quite firm and a good size. It was difficult to view the TV screen from the settee on the back wall. Tea (Yorkshire) and coffees were plentiful - not so much biscuits. Full English, plus cereals, juice, toast and tea/coffee refills welcome."
