It bothered me but not my wife so other people might not notice. There were little things like rust on the door frame and scratches on the desk. Not enough to detract from the room but noticeable."

"If an IKEA opened a beach motel it would look like the Surfside! Room was bare, cool and clean. The entire place (rooms and common areas) have the same flooring that was sticky no matter where you walk. If they un-sticky the floors this place is a cute little 10/10. The rest of it was really clean. People were really friendly, location is great."

"We picked this place because it was half-way to our destination, had a pool for the kids, and was pet friendly. The hotel looked like it has seen better days. We arrived in the middle of a heat wave, and their A/C was broken in the lobby, making impossible to hang out at the bar. The staff looked miserable (housekeeping staff was much nicer than front of the house); one of the 2 elevators was broken, and the ice machine had issues. "The hotel manager, Jheneel is one the the BEST staffs I have even seen. She knows how to take care of customers. I met her at our first time staying and she was so smart to realize that we were cold and offer to bring us blankets. As a returned customer, we luckily met her while checking in and she gave us a very warm welcome “benefit” that makes us feel like home. This hotel will always be on our sweet hotel list. "1: The rooms do not have a mattress for a bed. They use a futon pad on a platform. These are not only very firm but extremely uncomfortable. I had 3 of the worst nights of sleep in my life, and this was a major contributing factor. They recently remodels all the rooms but cheaped out on the bed. 2: There is a ton of noise from cars and pedestrians nearly around the clock, and the walls are paper thin.
