"What a find! It was great. Now don't be deceived by its address. It is not in Ambleside. It's a few miles to the west on the narrow, winding B5343, beyond Skelwith Bridge and the old slate mining village of Chapel Stile. This road comes to a dead end in the Langdales a few miles from the hotel. There's an old 19th century Ordnance Survey map on the wall of the breakfast room which identifies 'Robinson place' which I think was this building, previously a farm. Anyway, it has been sympathetically restored to welcome visitors, both car drivers like us and plenty of hikers and cyclists. My room had large windows on two walls, with beautiful views of mountains, grass and sheep."

"Had a wonderful time in Grasmere staying at the Chestnut Villas . We were in the Silver Howe Room which was superb , we had a little patio area all to ourselves where we enjoyed our morning coffee whilst taking in the amazing views around us. Mike who owns the premises with his Mum takes so much pride in ensuring you have an enjoyable stay and it was so refreshing to meet someone with so much integrity as he has . The room was beautiful , clean and quiet and we didn’t want to leave. We will certainly be returning there again on our next visit to the Lakes."

"It was a great location. We did find the car park a little bit tight and tricky to get into (as the road was fairly busy when we arrived). The cottage was great and had all we were after and the downstairs bathroom was great for my elderly Mum. The two single beds mattresses were a bit past their best so the only thing I’d suggest to improve the property would be an update of those. Otherwise it was a great place to stay right on the river."
