Absolutely lovely location although you need to be a walker to climb that hill from the front every night! Nice and quiet and lovely gardens too. The owners are lovely people, made us feel very welcome. The breakfast each morning was delicious and very well cooked.The room we stayed in wasn't en-suite but across from the bedroom so not a problem although I think the other rooms are en-suite. The only 2 things I would say that stopped me from giving 5 stars were the shower, it was very old fashioned and loud, and the bed was very hard so after a long day of walking miles, it wasn't the most comfortable place to relax and have a good sleep. I think a decent mattress topper would make a huge difference. Aside from these 2 small things, I would thoroughly recommend this as a great place to stay and we would go back again.

Property itself is lovely and owners very accommodating. I loved that the owner has an electric car charger which he lets you use for a nominal fee (much cheaper than a rapid charger). Great for electric car owners like me, enabling me to drive down from the Midlands, recharge and get back with no additional stops.

Weekend stay

Our room was very nice with a comfy bed, ensuite bathroom, tea & coffee and a little fridge. Breakfast was cooked to order and was delicious. A really good base for a weekend in Hastings with the added bonus of free parking and friendly hosts.

Mon expérience de séjour au Summerfields House

J'ai occupée la chambre " hedgerow", avec la salle de bain séparée. Elle se trouve à l'étage. Les hôtes sont très accueillants. Le petit déjeuné à l'anglaise est bon, très copieux si on prend tout, et est très digeste. Il se prend dans une véranda très agréable, donnant sur le jardin, où il y avait un chat trop mignon. On peut choisir son thé parmi une vaste sélection. Pour les intolérants au lactose, ils proposent de la boisson de soja, à la place du lait de vache. La maison est située dans une zone calme et boisée. La télé fonctionne bien, la douche aussi où l'eau chaude arrive vite. Pour ce qui est de la propreté je suis plus mitigée. L'essentiel, c'est à dire la lingerie et les sanitaires, étaient propres et désinfectés. Par contre, certains équipements sont assez vétustes et/ou sales. Il y avait des toiles d'araignées à ma fenêtre, ainsi que derrière les tables de chevet. Du tarte se trouvait sur le pommeau de douche. Le store de la fenêtre de la salle de bain était assez sale, avec une araignée morte sur le rebord (heureusement, je ne suis pas arachnophobe!). Le lit était un peu trop dur à mon goût, on sent les ressorts. La télécommande était sale également. Je préfère être honnête sur ces points là, afin que les hôtes puissent y apporter des améliorations. Le vieux Hastings est à 15 minutes de marche, en descendant la rue. Un Lidl se trouve à 3 minutes à pied de la maison. J'ai passé un agréable séjour à Hastings et recommande cette endroit.

Great choice for a visit to Hastings

We enjoyed our stay at Summerfields House this weekend. The house is situated in a quiet spot just off a main road, but feels like it's in the country. Yet, it's walkable to old town, the pier, fishermen's museum, etc. The room was very comfortable and well appointed, and the hosts were very gracious in offering anything else we might need. Breakfast was delicious and served in the pretty sunroom at the back of the house.

The proprietors are very welcoming and it is a lovely property to stay in. We chose based on positive reviews and were not disappointed. Even better is that the middle of Hastings is well within walking distance. We didn't use our car at all during our stay. Spotlessly clean, well presented, and excellent breakfast! If staying in the area again Summerfields House would be at the top of our list.

Spent 2 nights here. Very nice place. Breakfast was excellent. Room was clean & comfortable, though be aware our room didn't have an en-suite, but had a private bathroom. Pleasant owners. Will stay there again.

We have stayed at many places around the world over many years and Summerfield's has to be one of the best. Liz and Alfredo are perfect hosts and made us feel at home, they looked after us so well we really didn't want to leave. We will be back!
