"Bar and grill is excellent, decent selection with the unexpected bonus of a dart board and pool table, although an oche, a fixed board and one table less around the pool table would be good. The rooms are decent value for money, very comfy bed and all you really need albeit a little on the small side in the shower room. Like all such places, the staff can make the difference and the peeps here were fabulous... helpful, chatty, friendly and exactly what you want to find and they made the difference between a Good and an Excellent rating from us."

"Impressive reception area, main stair case and restaurant area. Friendly, welcoming staff. Bedroom fine - clean and comfortable. En-suite bathroom a little tired but functional and perfectly acceptable. Very quiet overnight. Excellent breakfast. The hotel is in lovely grounds which give direct access to the reservoirs and country park beyond, ideal for an early morning stroll. Plenty of car parking space."

"Room was newly renovated and very spacious. Gym and pool were excellent, best gym I’ve ever seen as a hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, we slept awfully, the hotel/room above us was so noisy. All we could hear all evening and through the night was the tv, banging and snoring. "

"Initial issues with room allocated to us (leak in bathroom) but room was swapped for an upgraded room (one with a sofa bed!) leisure facilities were great ND breakfast was fantastic. Yes outside areas are a tad unkempt but the team have a lot to do to get the enormous site shipshape again. "

"The parking quite good .The room was clean but they didn't clean our room when we were going out .The staff was nice to me and complimented my pink butterfly dress. The breakfast was okay because there small crosonts ,orange juice , milk ,apple juice and cereal like cocopops , cornflakes ,something nut but my favourite thing was the bathtub because it was nice and warm l didn't like the TV because it didn't have YouTube and for breakfast they didn't give any of our bacon or sossage "

"We have stayed a few times but before the hotel was closed for a few months we always enjoyed it here. We got into the room and the TV wasn’t working properly, staff did come to try fix it then the maintenance man. He couldn’t fix it so said he would speak to reception and ask for us to be moved, we waited an hour then went to reception the message had not been passed on. We then moved rooms, the tv worked for 30 minutes then the same thing happened at this point we just gave up. We then went to get some crisps from the bar to be charged £1 per packet for about 10 crisps so if your staying bring your own crisps as that was a complete rip off. We then went back to the room which was cold as the radiator was not heating up properly. At about 6am we heard an awful noise luckily my partner went to investigate and the kettle had started to boil without being switched on with hardly any water in we reported this the next morning. We did have a disappointing stay mainly due to maintenance issues, for a hotel that has been closed for 6 months you would expect it to be running with no issues. What refurbishments have been done I’m not sure as it still looks the same! Hopefully they will get the tv, heating and kettles sorted soon. "
