"Love this place! Lovely, welcoming real fires in winter. Cool outdoor area for brighter days. Spent a great couple of hours in the beer garden. Rooms clean and well kitted out. Breakfast brilliant!"

"We stayed overnight at The Gateway Inn for a nearby family function and it was absolutely lovely - we wish we could have stayed longer and definitely intend to come back. The staff are friendly and welcoming, the rooms and bar/restaurant are all comfortably and beautifully finished. Our room was impeccably cleaned, furnished beautifully and had lovely amenities included (toiletries and tea/coffee, biscuits). Do pay attention to the hotel’s flag when booking about some rooms being less...

"We loved our stay at the hotel, the room was amazing and the views that came with the room were too. All the staff were really lovely but the lady in reception who dealt with us was especially helpful to us. The breakfast was really nice too. All in all a really nice night away and would recommend."

"We had no room service eg change of towels. Also never came in to change the bin. We had to keep asking for things. Carpet syained, walls all marked. Windows bad, couldnt close one. An absolute nightmare."

"Staff make this hotel especially the reception team and dining staff on the evening shift. Got a complimentary upgrade, which is always welcome, dining at the evening food was cooked fresh, hot, helpful staff no complaints. Hotel rooms were very comfy, bright on the riverside of the hotel, lovely toiletries. Will return on the back of how welcoming the staff were."

"Room was not visited by the staff during my 3 night's stay. When I asked for clean mugs and tea and milk, this was not carried out"

"The room was clean and the breakfast was good The only issue was the stairs to the room as our room was on the 3 floors there were a lot of stairs to climb and we both OAP which was very tiring. On the hold it was a good experience but we would not stay again due to the stairs."

"Accommodation functional but very small room. Bar and restaurant closed very early. Breakfast adequate."

"A great location to stop after a long drive. Very convenient. The room was spacious and clean. The bathroom was spotless with lovely locally sourced products. Whilst we didn't eat dinner here it was busy and there us a children's play area too. We ate at the Hare & Hounds; a very pleasant 20 minute walk away. There is plenty of car parking spaces at the Gilpin. The breakfast is very basic. We would definitely stay again but not opt for the breakfast."

"The hotel was on the main street with shops and pubs all in walking distance. We were able to eat and drink at the Red Dragon. The only drawback was no on site parking so the car had to be left about 10 minutes walk away. This was the only issue the rest was great."
