Check-in was quick and easy. The room was clean and comfortable. WiFi was workable. The "curtain" was not as wide as the window, and this should be addressed. Breakfast was adequate. There are plenty of restaurants within a very short walk. I feel that I paid a fair price for our room, and so I would be happy to stay there again.
Really nice hostel, view is amazing. Staff is really friendly

A very basic but clean and friendly stay. We enjoyed our room and the views were gorgeous. Fair warning, the hostel is a decent walk from the main docks.

I stayed at Hostal del Sol for one night. It is right at the top of Isla del Sol so it is a bit of a trek from the harbor but it was rather easy to find with the help of offline Google maps.
The room I had booked had some bugs in it but I was able to change to another room free of charge. The wifi works only in one part of the hostel, not so well in rooms. But the wifi exists nevertheless!
The water in the shower is warm but the shower is located sort of outside so be prepared for a bit of a chilly and refreshing experience!
The breakfast was very basic, crackers with butter and jam with tea and coffee.
All in all the hostel is very basic. It is one of the cheapest ones on the Island, serves well for 1 or 2 nights.
This hostel is located in a good place for sightseeing. At the very first time, it may hard to find the way to go there, but they will pick you up at the boat station.
Great hotel. The highest one on the island but definitely worth the hike up with bags. Very close to mirador so great panoramic views for sunrise/sunset. Good breakfast too.
(Bonne grimpette ).
Petit déjeuner bon et copieux.

Quaint hostal at the top of Isla del Sol
Hostal del Sol is located at the top of Isla del Sol. As we were unaccustomed to the altitude, and because we were travelling with all of our backpacks, it took us a good 45 minutes to reach the hostal from the Yumani port due to the climb. However, the climb was worth it and the hostal was at the foot of a hill that offered amazing views. The hostal was also located close to some great restaurants with fantastic views as well (would recommend the Inti Jalanta restaurant - the grilled trout is fresh and surprisingly tasty). It is a little bit hard to find, but if you ask the locals, they are friendly and will point you in the right direction. Once you reach the restaurant, find the yellow house behind the restaurant, and go to the back through the gate on the right to find the "office".
The hostel has bare basics - a place to sleep, a washroom, electricity and some wi-fi. The room was decently comfortable, although the shower can only provide hot water through a heating element. Getting hot water means limiting the water flow in order for the heating element to heat up the water sufficiently before it comes out of the shower head. This means that the water pressure will be low, but having a warm shower on the island wasn't bad at all.
The wi-fi was available, but it is certainly better at the restaurant where breakfast was served. Even at the restaurant, the wi-fi wasn't really fast, but one can do some surfing.
Overall, a pretty good hostel.

Great location
Great location, although be prepared for a long climb to the hostel. Due to the altitude the climb can be quite taxing, especially if you have heavy luggage. Staff member met us at the boat and then took us to the hostel - useful as it would be tricky to find. Recommend paying in full prior to arrival as there are no ATM's on the island. Staff have very limited English. Showers were not hot at our time of stay
The hostel was furthest from the port so its very exhausting to walk there with all the luggage, rooms are not very clean, staff was not too helpful, wifi didnt work very well. I think for the money, you can find better hostels on the island.

Incumplidos
Me tocó subir sola y cargada.
The stay was average. No wifi. Basic room. Barely warm shower. Not worth the price we paid. Had to go up a steep hill for 30 mins. Was very hard. Good breakfast though, fresh bread and cheese, jam and butter, coffee and tea. The host was very pleasant, but we didn't see much of her.
I stayed for 2 nights in Hostal del Sol. The Hostal was a 45 minute walk uphill, fortunately, they had donkeys for the price of US$3 per bag. The location was great for the views and the good restaurants on the island. However, you should consider whether your fitness level allows you to walk continuously uphill for such a long time.
This is the end of the good things I have to say about the hostel. Breakfast was extremely basic and the room hadn´t been cleaned so the floor was dirty. I had a private bathroom and when I switched on the tap for the first time a dead moth floated out of the sink. The toilet also had obviously not been cleaned. The water in the shower was lukewarm and way too cold for the island at night. After catching a chill on my first night, I opted to wait until I got to a better hotel before I showered. The wifi could not be accessed by more than 1 device at a time, so I spent most of my time without wifi and was unable to check or confirm my subsequent trips.
While this might be the usual standard of hostels on the island, it was clearly not worth US$39 per night. Find a cheaper hostel or a hostel with more consistently good reviews if you are going to stay on the island.

The wifi was not really working and hostal is very basic. But it's a gorgeous island and there are only basic accommodation on the island, so we were still happy with the place.

heaven on earth
this was a truly breathtaking and peacefull experiece
The hostel was basic. My room needs improvement such as a new door that seals the cold wind from entering the room. WiFi poor to fair. The rooms and shower area could be kept cleaner using a cleaner and disinfectant with the number of people using the hostel.

A rewarding experience
I spent only one night in the hostal and I can't complain at all.
Except for the shower which wasn't hot enough for the 8° C, the service was quite decent, the people were very king, the breakfast was delicious and the view...own the view is amazing!
It is true that the hike upon the hill is not easy, specially when you have a 10kg backpack to carry, and the altitude definitely plays an important role. It took approximately 50 min. to reach the top of the hill with several stops to retake the breath along the way.
Talking a little bit more about the hostal, it was strategically placed and the middle of the Isla del sol - in my opinion it could not have any other name - since it is at the beginning of the track to the north part of the island.
From my room it was totally possible to admire both the sunset and the sunrise from the bed.
I hugely recommend the hostal for those who like to have such a challenge prior to a rewarding landscape.
The worst hike of my life to this hotel. Get a donkey if you have any luggage. I was getting over a cold which made it worse, but unless you are in good shape this will be brutal. Only stayed one night. You will be overcharged compared to other options on the island. One set of my sheets were dirty. If I had known, would have just booked something once I got to the island.
