"l have stayed at the Pear Tree in STL several times and it always delivers on friendly staff (Doris and Cheyenne are the best!), great extras like free parking, free breakfast, free drink at 6pm, clean rooms with fridge and microwave, and the best value for a downtown St Louis hotel. "Older building in the downtown (could use a little updating, some street noise), but the AC worked well for us. Nice and close to the Gateway Arch. Cheapest stay close to the Arch. Paying for parking is annoying, but every place in downtown St. Louis charged for parking. Good stay for the money."

"We liked the location of this hotel—it's right on campus or just across the street, making it feel safe and convenient. You’re only a couple of blocks away from fast food, Walgreens, and the bus, which was so convenient. The area feels regal and historic with beautifully manicured lawns, and everything was just as pictured. The air conditioning worked well, all the amenities were in place, and we really enjoyed the old-timey charm. The only minor suggestion I have is about the check-in process....
