Kohea Kai Hotel Maui

"I rented the loft penthouse and it was nice. No kitchen chairs for the table, just 2 barstools for the counter. So we ended up using the kitchen table as a catch all for out stuff when returning from the day. The kitchen has some silverware and dishes, but no actual kitchen knives to cut pineapples, etc. We were able to use the steak knife and tough cut the pineapple. My reason for the 4 stars is the bedroom and lack of privacy. They recently remodeled the bedroom and the pictures dont match its current layout. On the expedia picture is shows a small view of the loft windows because there is a wall. But that wall was moved back and there was a large french door sized opening cut into the middle of the room and the bed was arranged to face the opening in the wall. Well even tho the room sits technically 3 stories up, if dark and lights are on, the condos across the way or the beach goers can see directly into the room. I was caught changing by someone on their balcony. I notified the office and they said I was literally the only person to complain of this and there wasnt much they could do or offered to do. So I went to target and purchased a tension shower rod and some curtains to give privacy. I offered to leave but the manager stated the hotel didn't need it because I was the only person that ever complained over lack of privacy. She did refund 3 nights resort fees, but I took down the curtain and rod and returned them. It was a cute property, but wouldnt stay again."

"This is a wonderful hotel. The rooms are beautifully decorated and exceptionally clean. We ate at both the breakfast buffet/with the ability to order and the outdoor bar and restaurant. The food was fresh tasting and absolutely delicious. The staff is welcoming, helpful and friendly. There is a pool area with an infinity pool and hot tub. There are even lounge seats in the pool. The location is great, walking distance to the public beach and shops at Wailea. The public beach is in a beautiful cove with a nice beach area and good snorkeling and a bathroom. I will absolutely return to this hotel. What a great find."

Fairmont Kea Lani Maui

"It would have been nice to have another restaurant available for lunch. The only ones open were Sushi (my family doesn't eat sushi) and the Ama (which was packed). Ko only served at the bar. It was a bit frustrating."

"Great central location to go everywhere on the island. Quiet area but super close to go anywhere. Beach is right across the street, but never went to that beach as it was right on highway and no amenities. But would be perfect if you wanted to just jump in and swim! Pool was nice. Room was great. Bed and pillows were very comfy. Even without ac, never felt too hot as fans were huge and produced great air. Would recommend to anyone who wants a nice place close to other areas ( not walking distance tho), at a great price compared to staying in a touristy resort"

"Loved the property but definitely had difficulty with getting service poolside. Moved to a different pool and thought that would help. Still no service. Eventually moved back to adult pool and walked around and found a staff member. After that we just decided to go directly to the bar ourselves for a drink. I got the feeling they thought we weren’t staying there but they should ask. We were guests of the hotel. I would appreciate spending that kind of money per night to not have to seek out service."

"Room was great. Resort was beautiful. Grounds immaculately maintained. Housekeeping could not have been better. Location to mall was great. Restaurants really good but expensive. Drinks very expensive. Walk way along the ocean to other resorts. Only issue a lot of rules by the pool. Don’t bring leftover food to the pool because they will ask you to leave."
