Paradise Bay Resort
6/10 Okay
"As Oahu's short-term rental ban took effect in 2025, Paradise Bay came up as an option. We booked the Ohana suite in March 2026 after the storms had subsided.
Paradise Bay is a decent, quiet alternative away from HNL and Waikiki. On the positive side: the room was nice; the staff was accommodating and friendly; the suite looked out to the deck which was inviting in the morning and dusk; there was warm banana bread and hot coffee in their reception area every morning; beds were comfy and large;
On the negative side: The resort is on a steep hill, so if you have mobility issues, it could be a problem navigating the property (staff helpfully drove my 86-year-old mother down the steep hill in their golf cart, which was nice); parking is limited and that can pose an issue sometimes especially when it rains; the staff's preferred method of communication is email, which seemed odd but it was responsive when our cable went out and we needed someone to come over and troubleshoot.
Overall the room was was clean but there were visible signs of wear in the screens, the kitchen cabinets, and the toilet paper holder was coming off the wall (promptly fixed by maintenance). I had to request dish soap for the sink. The sliding door rails were littered with insects. Not mad, it's an island environment -- that's just the way it is.
Paradise Bay is fine to stay at, the views are wonderful. Just keep in mind it's not a 4-5 star resort by any stretch. "

"A perfect day at Turtle Bay Resort."

The Ritz-Carlton O‘ahu, Turtle Bay
10/10 Excellent
"The resort was beautifully maintained, the location was great. The room was nicely appointed and comfortable. Definitely will go back."

Luxury Oceanview Punaluu Condo
6/10 Okay
"I will break up the rating. Condo itself 8/10. Beach/grounds 8/10. Building itself 2/10. Condo was well stocked, clean, great view (5th flr), management responsive. There is snorkel equip, boggie board, beach umbrella, cooler, beach towels. The “bedroom” is a nook area with no room to go around the bed. The pictures are accurate but some wear since. Beach is good, the grounds area a little rough but not bad. There is a grass-covered area to relax in, pool is small but ok. The property: originally a hotel, converted to condo’s and semi-permanent residents. There will be construction for a long time to come but construction didn’t impact us. Roaches on property but not in condo. There are 14 parking locations on site, insufficient. 150 yards away is a grass/mud parking lot, walk along the road after parking. Parking is free. Due to poor construction quality and Kona Low with extreme rains, the elevators quit working, parking lot deep puddles. Parking security staff were helpful. The curb appearance of the building is shocking with construction materials everywhere that have sat for long periods. I would stay again "

Courtyard by Marriott Oahu North Shore
8/10 Good
"We had three people in the room. When we arrived the sofa bed was not made. When asked about it they said we would have to make the bed ourselves.
I asked twice for another blanket. After one-half hour I had to hunt down a room service person and went with her to get a blanket"

YMCA - Camp Erdman
8/10 Good
"Location was fantastic backing onto the beach on the north shore. It was a levely quiet location. The accomodation was fairly basic and we stayed during very inclement weather and there was a minir leak in the roof above one of the windows. Air conditioning worked well but was a bit noisy. Loved the location would definitely come again. "
