This was our second time staying at the Kona Castle Reef . This oceanfront unit was comfortable, tidy and an excellent layout. Some of the lighting fixtures seemed dated and Could use replacement . Having the bbq’s there as an alternative cooking option was fantastic. We can’t wait to visit again next year and hopefully secure the same unit as we did this time .

Condo unit needed some maintenance before check in Bedside lampshade broken and left ( with pieces) in bedroom . Louvre doors enclosing laundry machines broken and wooden slats left laying inside the Cupboard .Parking pass was to be left in unit for new customer but no parking pass was found. We ended up writing our info on a piece of paper and placing that on the dashboard .

Held Our Room Ransom Through Hidden Fees
HIDDEN FEES! After paying in full prior to our trip through Hotels.com, we received an email from the management company 6 hours before our check in (while we were still on the plane to Hawaii) that we had an outstanding balance of $312.00, which was more than the price of a one night stay. When we landed and I was able to call, they claimed it was a cleaning fee and we would not receive our check in information until it was paid. Seeing as our only other option was to desperately find a new place, we paid the ransom. I called the manager about this fee, who said these fees were disclosed earlier. When I sent her my Hotels.com receipt stating my whole stay had already been paid for, along with her management company’s message via Hotels.com that never stated any price on these hidden fees, she went silent and refused to answer our calls or respond back to our multiple voicemails. She could not point out anywhere in the contract where these high fees would be charged. As for the “cleaning fee”, the floors were absolutely filthy when we arrived, with the bottoms of our feet turning black within seconds of entering the unit and removing our shoes. The only cleaning received during our three nights came after we left. The closet door to the washing machine was also busted through. This company was completely dishonest about the costs and I would urge anyone looking to book this place to reconsider.

It was pleasant! Coffee pot was old and shower in bedroom was not so great. Not enough hit water and the half shower door made for a messy, cold shower.

I was very disappointed in the unit we booked. The resort was beautiful, and well maintained. The unit we stayed in was filthy. It was very out dated. The air conditioning unit was in the living room, but the air didn't make it back to the bedroom, which made for very uncomfortable sleeping. There was a hide a bed in the living room, but it was broken so we couldn't sleep on it, and really just a piece of crap. The matress pad that was on the matress had several pee stains on it. The recliner in the living room was broken, so it didn't recline, and it had a horrible odor. My wife had to clean the bathtub because there was soap scum, and as she put it, absolutely gross. The only good thing about this place was the location, and the view. Very central to most places. You could walk to the shop's and restaurants. The patio outside our unit had a beautiful view of the water, and right next to a very small beach. If it weren't for these two things things, location, and the resort itself, i would give this place a below 1 rating if there was one. It was clearly not taken care of, and the owner obviously doesn't care!!

The property and unit were very nice. Very comfortable and clean..everything you need for going to the beach was suppied in the room,except a surf board! Lol! It was a little confusing finding the condo at first. It is on the same complex as Kona Reef condos but is called Castle Kona Reef condo when I booked..It wasn't clear it was the same place. Other than that, it was a great place to stay. Onsite parking in garage was awesome!

I liked that it is directly on the ocean. I liked the pool & jacuzzi There was a wall in our bedroom that had water draining out through pipes for a good part of the day. I did not like that.

Beautiful view. loved the balcony. well stocked kitchen regarding dishes. Did not like broken dryer, had to hang towels and clothes to dry. Nor the lack of curtains in the unit. We called and was told nothing could be done. Was a very dated unit. We reserve 2 rooms, one was ok, the other not. Do not reserve unit D13.

This property was very well advertised. The views were spectacular and everyone on the island were friendly. Our condo had everything you would need for a relaxing week or 2.

We loved our condo rental. Loved the amazing view, having a washer/dryer right in the unit, free onsite parking and the pool area (with that amazing view) with grills. The location is great. Within walking distance of a lot of restaurants/lounges, stores... We look forward to staying here again.

I loved my ocean view room! Everything was close to perfect except the washing machine. It didn’t dry my clothes entirely, but it wasn’t too bad!!! I’d recommend booking with Kona Reef!!!!

Great view right in front of the ocean. The 1 bedroom unit was pretty small compared to a few other condos i stayed at. Floors were really dirty and sticky as soon as we walked in. AC didn't reach the bedroom so the room was very hot and muggy. For the price and cleaning fee i would not pay that much to stay there again.

Perfect beach retreat!
Perfect beach retreat! The condo on the fourth floor gave us amazing access to Sunset view and the roar of the ocean. The pool and Jacuzzi were wonderful. The condo is Perfectly situated between beaches for swimming and snorkeling and a brief walk into the fun town. At night everything was quiet except the roar of the ocean. Wonderful place to rest relax and enjoy.

Lovely ocean front condo
No reply from the management prior to arrival. No check-in instructions prior to arrival. The room was outdated and not very clean. The location was perfect as was the view from the lanai. I’ve stayed in many condos around Kona and this was my favorite location so far, it just needs to be updated and management needs to communicate with their guests prior to arrival.

B-7 was our room. What a dump. Will never stay again. We did have a nice view and liked being on the ground floor. Construction going on throughout our stay with dust everywhere and lots of noise.

We had unit D-1 ocean front with great updated interior. We would come back! Be warned about a $200 charge upon check in for cleaning and resort fee. I didn’t expect that- so it boosted the fee to about $250 per night. (We were only there two nights)

ベッドルームのライトが不灯。スイッチの紐を引っ張ると落下した。 部屋に備え付の洗濯機が動かない。 クーラーは有るが、ほとんど涼しくならない。いずれにしても建物、設備全体が古い。ただし、立地は最高！ベランダから見る景色は、絵はがきを見ているようで素晴らしい。

洗濯機が壊れて滞在中に直してもらえず、洗濯が全く出来なかった。客室に洗濯機が完備されていることから選び、洋服も少ししか持って行ってなかったため大変不便な思いをした。

Condo horrible, le no D13, situé directement face à la mer. Le seul point positif, la vue sur la mer et les couchers de soleil. C’est le pire que j’ai loué. Pas rénové, tout est rouillé à l’intérieur. Rideaux avec plein de moisissures. Matelas pas le plus super confortable. Il y a un vieux climatiseur extrêmement bruyant dans le salon qui ne climatise pas la chambre. Aucun coffre-fort, ce qui était pourtant mentionné lors de la réservation. Salle de bain avec un vieux bain et une une ancienne porte de douche. Et que dire de la porte patio...si on ne faisait pas attention, elle pouvait se défaire à tout moment car la fenêtre se détachait du cadre de porte. Même que, nous ne savions pas comment c’est arrivé, mais en fermant la porte-patio sur le balcon, on est resté embarré dehors. Mon conjoint à réussi à passer sa main entre la vitre du cadre de la porte-patio pour la débarder de l’intérieur. Les photos montrées ne sont pas représentatives. En tout cas, moi, je ne le recommande pas.

This property is in a wonderful location just a short walk to town and has a lovely pool area. Unfortunately it was clear the owners have put no effort into maintaining the property or addressing the significant damp issue. I don’t mind if the decor is a bit old but when the sofa, cushions and curtains are covered in mould then this is a problem. We had to drape a sheet over the sofa just to sit on it. And the floor was constantly wet and sticky. The air conditioner, asides from being really noisy, is clearly not taking any or the moisture out of the air. For the amount of money we paid, this is absolutely terrible. For the same amount we stayed in far superior rooms in Hilo and Kauai which were cleaner, had better amenities and in similarly good locations. The owners should consider significantly reducing the cost if this is how they are continuing to present the unit

The property was everything and more. The view from the room was fantastic as well as the pool and beach area. It was in perfect walking distance to dining and shopping.

Ocean view was great. We were able to see dolphins from our balcony. The condo was clean and the kitchen had what we needed.

Our power was out for a day and they were unable to fix it. Multiple calls to orbitz and their help desk did nothing.

Localisation intéressante. Grand condo. Service de gestion du condo a envoyé les informations d accès au condo à la mauvaise adresse de courriel, et était disponible seulement entre 9h et 17h. Service suppléant 24h était correct, sans plus.
