"Very basic small room. It was very hot and the a/c did not appear to be working. Also you could hear voices from adjoining room. £7 to park overnight. Outrageous car parking should be free."

"Staff efficient but robotic and lacked empathy. Bedroom tired and the lighting was inadequate when applying make-up. Dim lights might be romantic but a dressing table with a proper lamp so you can see what you look like is essential! Hot water in bathroom basin very slow in coming through and the toilet seat is misaligned "

We tried every contact number provided, including the delivery and service numbers advertised, but received no answer or callback. "What a superb gem of a hotel. Location is ideal for travelling with plenty of car parking. Staff were very friendly and welcoming and the room had everything we needed. Breakfast was extremely good with a wide selection of continental and superbly cooked and varied hot options. Ate dinner in the restaurant and the meal was lovely. Originally booked one night travelling south and then decided to stay again a few nights later when travelling back. Will definitely be back."

"Fantastic stay at the Telstar. Staff were so friendly when I arrived, showing me to my room. It was very clean, comfy and practical! Free parking is an absolute gem in Exeter, so was very grateful for that. I'll definitely stay again when I'm next down."

Unfortunately it was quite hot due to it being on the second floor and after a string of hotter than usual days, not helped by the fact that the heated towel rail (from the hot water system) couldn't be shut off. But a great old pub to stay in all the same. We had a lovely meal in the restaurant."
