Condo was the perfect size for a family of 4 with two small children. Enjoyed 2 bathrooms. Liked how the towels were wrapped. Property was confusing to find our condo number at first. AC was broken but 2 air units were put in for us which helped. The bunk beds were more comfy than the bed in the other bedroom. Overall, we would stay there again.

Comfortable

Very clean. Well equipped. Some dated stuff. Useless, warped dust pan, cracked ceramic floors with grout crumbled and gritting the floors. AC worked well, quiet, but did nit vent into one of the bedrooms. I thought there were no pets, but saw several dogs. Parking was adequate. Beds and sofas very comfortable. No good view balcony. from I could live there all summer.

Great place for Kill Devil Hills

We are not beach people so the location 1 block in from the beach was perfect for us. The beach apartment condo was on the 3rd floor (2nd floor up from the ground) and was easy to access. No elevator though. Area was very safe and we left our kayaks strapped to the car. Place was very quiet and clean but typical of beach accomodations. I would definitely stay there again.

80 degrees in the room when we arrived. Had a lock box over it that we could not access. Hot water heater was off. Washing machine quit working properly the first night we were there. Made several calls to the resort. The resort Representatives would always claim that would call us to let us know what was going on and we would never receive a phone call. We were also told that the washer would be fixed while we were there and it never got fixed. Nobody from the resort would call us back to update us on status. We had clothes stuck in the washer that the maintenance guy had to tell us how to reset and unlock the washer door to get our clothes out before we left.

It took 4 room changes before we had suitable accommodations. The first was a heavy smoking room that had two air filters running to reduce odor, the second transfer was a room that was occupied, the third had not been cleaned and finally 4th room was adequate. This because of room security codes was frustrating and dangerous.

Plan Ahead

Nice place; clean; stocked pretty well but I did call mgmt w/request for ice trays, coffee filters, repair balcony lock, fix sliding screen door off track, & most importantly, no cable. The maintenance man (polite) showed the next morning (great) but never did deliver on any of my requests. He couldn't get the cable to work either, reported to the office (an issue they'd have to resolve with the cable company); never delivered. In the meantime, I couldn't find the DVD remote (to play DVD's I brought just in case-it had rained for 2 straight days so the beach was out of the Q); I found the remote the night before we left in the BR nightstand of 2nd BR instead of it being near the LR TV/DVD player). While the location is just a block from the beach, I had to walk at least a half mile to access it since lined on the beach are no trespassing signs of hotels, rentals, etc...no cutting through their yard or in-between. I had let the teens take the car to parasail & didn't know that, so plan on driving and parking the car or being left off before not having a car. I didn't see any port-o-pottys on the beach or public restrooms so plan accordingly. At least there was a water spicket with shower head to rinse the sand off feet at the beach access (the one located half a mile away). There aren't any beach chairs there either, nor cookie sheets for oven baking, but did have containers for drinks (like kool aid or ice tea), there were plenty of dishes, bowls, etc.

Renter Beware

Our stay here was OK. The room was very used and the accommodations not comfortable at all. From the bed to the seating. The views were terrible. In most cases I say you get what you paid for-in this case you don't even get what you paid for. As a citizen from a close neighboring city/state I have been coming to the Outer Banks since I was a toddler. We brought someone with us that had never been to OBX. It was embarrassing to say the least. It was a last minute trip so we took what we could get. Also, I was charged the fee I owed and three weeks later I was charged another 1800. That was an ordeal to take care of and still don't know what that charge was for. I am guessing fraudulent employees. I would NOT stay here even if it was my only option.

Not what I expected

The wifi was awful, the tv's got about 3 channels and we couldn't get them to work and when I called them they said someone would call me back and never did. Rooms could have been cleaned better: there was socks and a pair of women's underwear under the bed from the person who stayed there before us. Screen on the door to patio was broken. I was unimpressed and do not plan on staying there again.

Clean, but otherwise disappointing.

The check-in was easy and parking was always available. The unit itself was in desperate need of an update of decor, fixtures and appliances. The futon in the living room was apparently broken and not usable for sitting since the back slowly reclined --on it's own--over time and could not be raised, so that by the time we left four days later you could not use it as a sofa. There were amenities missing. For example: a coffee maker and coffee was promised but not there. There were no hangers in the closet, no dish towels. The TV cable system was not working so we were only able to receive a few local stations.(In fairness, we did not contact the concierge about this so we don't know whether it would have been remedied) In general, it felt like we were on our own without support or contact with the management since there is no staff on site. A call after we checked in to see if everything was satisfactory would have been helpful.

Leaves much to be desired

Many improvements needed on this property. The location was the most positive attribute of this condo. Close to beach access and local restaurants, arboretum, Wright memorial. The negatives: Cleanliness, comfort of furniture, comfort of bed, upgrade appliances, add some basic furniture to the balcony, dampness/mustiness.

We expected much more and we're disappointed.

We expected much more and we're disappointed. For the price, I expected accommodations as nice, or nicer than what I have at home. The location was the only positive of this property. A short walk to the beach, dining, and the Wright Bros memorial/arboretum. Beyond that, we were not pleased. The negatives are many so I will only highlight a few. The condo is old and dated. The access is from a long breezeway that doesn't receive much sunlight. The result is a damp condo that lacks natural light. Bring a candle or 3 to cover the musty smell. The dryer was so old that there were holes rusted through the interior of the door. The kitchen, as well as the whole area, was very dusty, so much so that we didn't use it. Which was very disappointing as we enjoy cooking a family meal during vacation. There is a small balcony with a partial view of the ocean, however; inexplicably there was not a single piece of furniture on it. Would have been nice to have a place to sit and enjoy our morning coffee. Textured walls, popcorn ceilings, dated bathrooms, dated appliances, leaky toilet, uncomfortable bed, this list goes on and on.

Needs some updates

The condo was clean, but is terribly out of date and very tight. The shower stall in the master bath room is barely big enough to turn around in. It was ok for our family of four for a few nights, but would get very cramped if we had stayed longer. Also - the public beach access was a quarter mile away down a road with heavy traffic. We were in a first floor unit and there was no chance we would have seen the ocean from our unit.

Average hotel stay

Not great. Experienced power surges while using microwave. AC was not working to the capacity. The rooms were still hot even though the AC was running. Pots and pans were not in a good condition. There were scratches in the pans. No extra bedsheets were provided for the sofa bed.

Cosy family apartment close to beach

The apartment is very nice and has everything that you need. You walk two blocks to the public beach access with life guard, and many restaurants and stores are also within walking distance. Plus Wright Brothers Memorial is right around the corner. The cleanliness could have been better (cereals under the dining table, sand in bathrooms). The smoke smell of another reviewer must have come from the apartment next door which is a heavy smoking resident, but you do not smell it in the apartment itself, just in the hallway. Our kids loved the bunk bed, plus having their own TV in the room. Internet was okish.

Weekend Getaway @ Outer Banks

We had a nice stay, thanks to the sunny weather and proximity to the beach. But there are a couple of items that needs attention. There were no blankets in the guest room. We booked the room for 2 days but there were not sufficient towels in the washrooms for 4 adults. There were no extra trash bags in the kitchen. Locks in either of the bathrooms were not working and the toilet in the master bathroom was not clean. Wifi access was limited to the living area and was not available inside the bedrooms. I would give an overall 2/5 based on the facilities provided for the price I paid.

Average level place without any staff

This is an average level place to stay. Clean, comfort, silent... only one problem is this is not a "hotel" per se. Don't expect a hotel level service. There is no bed service, no daily cleaning...I've never met any staff for a week not got any message from them. It was like...staying someone's empty house. Anyways, not a bad place at all.
