The COVID-19 outbreak may have changed the way we travel, but it hasn't put the brakes on our lust for exploring. Here are some tips on how to navigate travel's new challenges:

• Before you lock in a flight, see if any travel restrictions or bans apply — in both your destination and origin. Keep informed with the latest updates by checking government and airport websites.
• When you go through airport checkpoints, keep your face mask on. You will be asked to lower it briefly for identification purposes. Travellers who refuse to wear a mask may be denied entry or boarding.
• To avoid cross-contamination, position your boarding pass on the scanner yourself and then hold it up for inspection. Do not hand your pass directly to a TSA officer.
• One liquid hand sanitizer container is now allowed in your carry-on baggage. It must be no bigger than 12 oz (350 ml), and you'll need to remove it from your bag at the X-ray machine for screening.
• To minimize handling during the screening process, place personal items such as your phone and loose change into your carry-on instead of the bins.
• Separate any food you have for X-ray screening. Food items often trigger the alarm. Putting them in a clear plastic bag and into a bin reduces the need for a TSA employee to handle and inspect your belongings.
