I booked Ah Shen because a friend of mine recommended it, saying it's clean. For this price, I didn't expect much. Location is extremely convenient for eateries, shopping and public transportation. However, they posted a commitment sheet inside the room, claiming that if guests stay there for more than four days, they will clean the room and change towels. We stayed for 10 days, and none of these have been implemented. We even have to ask to get a new garbage bag for our room. It's better if they don't make such a claim.

This company evidently controls many units in this building, and I can only speak about my unit - which may be better than some of the others. Inside my unit was very clean and everything looked new. Everything worked very well - especially good A/C and shower - Wifi good. There was a refrigerator and hot water dispenser outside the unit in the hallway - small room - no room inside for them anyway. It was exactly as in the picture - with a nice window and view and all. The two young ladies on the staff were always smiling and asking if anything was needed. The 16 story apartment building is old and the elevators are small and at times crowded - but not a big problem. The MTR train is a couple short blocks away. The area is good - lively and safe. Not really 24 hour reception when I arrived. I was not carrying a local cell phone. Luckily, security was able to contact someone to let me in at midnight. The only complaint really was other guests who make noise and slam doors late at night - management cannot control these inconsiderates. Overall a very good stay - thank you.

Don't stay here. There are plenty of other places in the same price bracket. Awful place to stay and over priced for what it is. Had a twin room and there were some sort of midges crawling around on top of the other bed. These are flats converted into tiny rooms. No windows. Seriously look either.

The check in was very easy. The ac in our original room was not working, so the receptionist transferred us to another room and set up the ac for us. All of the staffs are very accommodating and speaks English. Their front desk is also 24hours so its fine that we checked in very late. They also offer concierge service for free.

Not having good experience

+ friendly staff, cold aircond, got security guard - we stayed in 1 double decker with 1 double bed room. Room spacious is really really limited till only allow 1 pax to walk to the bed. Toilet is small. No space to turn around as the WC is just under the shower. Got bugs bit me and my niece after overnight there. But the other 2 paxs were ok.

Nice little budget hostel, close to everything

If you're looking for budget accommodation in Hong Kong, check out Ah Shan hostel in Mongkok area. It's very convenient, close to a lot of small cafes, Ladies' market, sneaker street, gold fish market, etc. It's right smack in the middle of everything and the MTR is only a few minutes away. The unit is clean, staff are friendly, good enough wifi. They provide soap and shampoo, but towels are not free. Checkin and checkout was a breeze. Overall, it was a wonderful stay.

Location was good but the hostel is very old and many things not in working conditions. We booked 2 rooms and 1 of it the air conditioning was not working and had no window and my friend couldn’t sleep the whole night as was told that they have no other room available. The mattress in my room have a weird sound at slightest movement n the blanket n sheets looked like they been working used for years. Toilet door handle was demaged n not replaced and opening from inside was a challenged.

我第一天入住時, 大廈沒有廁所水, 要用食水沖廁。在半夜時, 天花滴水。職員只能給我另一房暫住。這晚真是令我麻煩。到另一天, 我又等另一空房，才能把行李搬去另一房。我要求職員減這晚的租, 郤被拒絕。還有間中有細曱甴在房。

スタッフの方は大変優しくて困っていた時にも助けてくださいましたが、案内された部屋は窓もなく、二段ベットのかなり狭い部屋。シャワーもトイレにあり、共用の為ゆっくり入ることもできませんでした。予約した部屋はツインのバス·トイレ専用とあったのに、チェックが少し遅かったからでしょうか、アップしている写真とかなりギャップがあり、本当に残念でした。
