  • On 14 April 2016, a massive earthquake (magnitude 6.2) struck Kumamoto prefecture and damaged numerous structures of the Kumamoto Castle complex including the main castle. Routes and pathways were still open and available for visitors. During our visit, efforts for reconstruction of Kumamoto castle were under way as can be seen in the background of this photo. The Uto Yagura turret (foreground), on the other hand, survived the quake and remains intact.

Everything about our stay at the Blossom Hotel was great! The service staff was friendly and professional. The level of hospitality was amazing. The room was clean. A premier hotel right at the Kumamoto Station. I have stayed here many times, and enjoyed it very much each time. It's a ways from the other bustling areas, but the tram is very convenient. The station complex and the shopping center where the hotel is located are themselves self-sufficient.

Incredible room, design was modern Japanese , large, airy, clean and very comfy. The bath tub/shower area was plenty big. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great with top notch quality and a good selection of traditional Japanese and western options. It's conveniently located next to the train station and the mall. Even parking was super convenient and the hotel offered a validated parking for just 1000yen overnight parking. This is the spot to stay in Kumamoto.

Staff were polite and courteous even walked us to our room. We loved our room it was so pretty and the shower/bathub was so spacious. One of the best hotel during our 1 mth trip. What an excellent hotel. It’s very new and modern and has a relaxing zen design. Loved the onsen and our room on the Executive Club level. Staff was very welcoming and helpful. Parked at the basement at the hotel and was given a QR code to discount the parking to 1,000 yen (go in once) or parked at Car Park 1 at the JR station (can go in/out multiple times) at 1,000 yen (with validated ticket from hotel reception). Dinner at the restaurant was very nice and prices reasonable (20% discount for hotel guests). Enjoyed our stay.
