Nohga Hotel Kiyomizu Kyoto
8/10 Good
"Good location if you’re happy to be slightly out of Central Tokyo and the staff were helpful signposting the bus to get to Haneda Airport. Lots of restaurants nearby especially for yakitori. I did find the bathroom to be awkwardly set up with a low shower going into the bath."

Hotel Emion Kyoto
10/10 Excellent
"The best service & convenient location."

THE BLOSSOM KYOTO
10/10 Excellent
"The bath was great - everything immaculate. Breakfast a bit too Westernized. Very nice end to 2-week stay in Japan"

Onyado Nono Kyotoshichijo Natural Hot Springs
10/10 Excellent
"We had a memorable stay at this hotel. The onsen featured multiple baths such that it never felt crowded even at peak times, and we found the perks like free yakisoba noodles (read: instant noodles), ice cream bars, Yakult yogurt drinks, and self serve coffee options (including matcha lattes, etc which is rare) to be fun and value added. Our triple room had a lot of space and privacy; although ours was sadly on the louder side (mainly from emergency vehicles and motorcycles)as it was on the second floor right above the main entrance. The hotel requests guests to remove and store their shoes at the main entrance which I felt was an interesting and thoughtful concept, but I felt slightly grossed out by seeing a number of guests wander around in bare feet despite being provided socks to wear. Some minor downsides: We went in late May and the hotel was fully occupied, so we found the 4 or 5 massage chairs almost always occupied and the laundry machines being in high demand (compounded by other guests not removing their clothes when done), and a cramped vibe in the common spaces (other than the onsen as mentioned earlier). The hotel is also a bit farther away (5 min extra walking time) from Kyoto Station than some alternatives but I would still consider it to be convenient."

APA Hotel Kyoto Ekihigashi
6/10 Okay
"Location was excellent as it is very close to Kyoto Station. We got a room with a king sized bed and found the bed to be too big for the room - there was literally no way to access the far side of the bed nearest to the window without climbing onto the bed and made me wonder if and how the carpet under the window is vacuumed thoroughly. We also found dried red drip marks in our bathroom door…one can only assume what that was. Bathroom faucet had a frustrating auto-off function that required the water flow to be very strong (almost overflowing) to stay on, otherwise washing hands needed one hand to be holding the tap open at a reasonable flow. No safe was provided in the room. Onsen was a selling point when booking but we found each bath to be very small (4 people would be too many) and crowded even at 10:30pm, and guests have to walk up and down a narrow staircase to access it (as with the laundry area). Front desk staff was friendly but we found communication to be challenging."

Miyako Hotel Kyoto Hachijo
8/10 Good
"Good hotel and good location right next to the station, although most stuff to do was the other side of the station so you have to walk through the really busy bit to cross the tracks and to get to everything. We were lucky and had a room looking right out onto the shinkansen tracks which was cool though! Lots of tour groups stay here which made the lobby busy but no other issues. Nice big rooms and good facilities"

Hotel Vischio Kyoto by GRANVIA
10/10 Excellent
"Loved the stay. The room was spacious. Only downside was there was no dresser, so we basically lived out of the suitcases. Other than that, lovely hotel in convenient location."

Kyoto Brighton Hotel
10/10 Excellent
"The hotel was very lovely and all the staff were welcoming and courteous. I was able to obtain a room upgrade upon my arrival without any issues. My room was very clean, spacious, and comfortable. The breakfast buffet had a nice selection of items that accommodated western visitors. My favorite was the french toast. The location is situated in a quiet area of Kyoto in the Kamiygo Ward and about a 11-14 minute walk to the subway station but the hotel offers daily shuttle service to a main station for convenience. On some days where I had long days of walking I preferred to take the local taxis which can drive you to popular places nearby like Gion and Nishiki Market. There is also a 7Eleven around the corner if you need to withdraw money from an ATM. Just be aware that the luggage delivery service the hotel partners with (Sagawa Express) does not offer luggage transport to the airport so if Kyoto is your last destination in Japan before you depart for the airport you will need to consider other options. Other than that I would highly recommend the Kyoto Brighton."

Kyoto Tokyu Hotel
10/10 Excellent
"I loved the attentiveness of the entire staff. All were kind with all guests. I definitely recommend and shall return when I visit Japan."
