I reported this to the receptionist, but was told there are no CCTV cameras in the common areas. For the safety of guests, I strongly recommend installing security cameras."

My room was beautiful and very comfortable. The bathroom and shower were great, which also had a lake view! It was nice to have the Guatemalan breakfast included in my rate. "The lovely Hotel Villa Santa Catarina is Guatemalan-owned. Beautiful two pools, great view of the lake, and a short tuk-tuk ride to Panajachel. The restaurant on site is fantastic for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Room was spacious - no A/C, but not a problem with the cool lake breeze at night."

"This property charges premium prices but delivers very little beyond the view. The location overlooking Lake Atitlán is beautiful. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end. The internet was essentially unusable during my stay. For a hotel at this price level, reliable internet should be basic. I had work to do and could not connect. Mobile data also barely works in this location, so the hotel’s Wi-Fi is the only option. What made the situation worse was the response from staff. No one...

"The most amazing view. We spent a lot of time just at the hotel because of the gorgeous view. You can also use the kayaks free of charge. Very close to the boat deck and very kind and helpful staff. Very nice breakfast was also included with our reservation. We also had dinner at the hotel restaurant which was delicious"

The complex was quite difficult to find even with the provided instructions, we only found it because a local showed us the route. The area has a lot of construction so it is quite loud during the day. The balcony was not used as we had hoped because the drilling was constant all day. Also it would be nice if the balcony had seating. The staff are very quick to respond which was helpful because the toilet did not work...
