We will not stay here again

We reserved rooms for two nights at this hotel. Upon our arrival, the keys did not work. The staff did resolve this issue. Next, the tv remote control did not work. The staff resolved this issue. The final disappointment was that my relatives had to change rooms twice because of 1) a broken closet door and 2) BEDBUGS and STINKBUGS were found in the room. We will not stay here again.

Great location, walking distance to MSU. The set up of the room was fantastic, unfortunately, the room was old, run down, close to grimy. The staff was OUTSTANDING!!!

ABSOLUTLEY DISGUSTING. DO NOT STAY HERE.

There were bugs everywhere, and a loud scratching noise coming from the kitchen area, which sounded like mice. The beds were barely usable they were so droopy and squeaky. There was zero chance my son or I would be able to sleep in that filth. Unfortunately we arrived late at night after a long drive, and then had to go back out at 11:30 pm and look for another hotel which was not completely disgusting. For your reference the Holiday Inn we ended up at seemed like a 5-star hotel compared to the uninhabitable room at the Gatehouse Suites. The desk clerk did not refund my money.

Excellent 3-day stay

Roomy suites with complete kitchen facilities, conveniently located and well maintained. The double bed was comfortable but a queen would have been better. Fortunately, we didn´t need to use the attractive fireplace although the furnace was necessary and worked well. The breakfast included: breakfast sandwiches and burritos, juice and fruits, bagels + cream cheese, waffles, cereals + yoghurt and of course, coffee, all in a pleasant dining room.

MSU Homecoming Weekend

WARNING!!! We will never go back to this hotel again. We were issued a parking ticket for parking in the hotel parking lot and we arrived minutes before a tow truck was going to hookup our car and bring it to the impound lot. We were at the front desk trying to find out why we received a ticket and the employee that was working told us our car did not have a parking pass. We were never issued a parking pass, and she continued to tell us that everyone that checks in gets one. Well we did not, along with multiple others that were guest there. Unfortunately their cars were towed and they had to pay to get them out of impound, which cost a hefty price, and pay the parking ticket fee. We asked to speak to a manager and were told that they did not work weekends and that we would have to call them on Monday. Later that evening we received a call from the front desk telling us that the manager would be bringing a pre-paid check card to pay for our ticket. We asked that we speak to them when they arrived and we were told that should not be a problem. Well needless to say we never heard from or saw the manager. The college kids that work the front desk (those that never issued us a parking pass) called and told us that we could come down and get the check card. We will be fighting this ticket in front of a judge because we were never at fault. Just hope that those who had their cars impounded will do the same. Oh and the room that we stayed in was dirty. The carpet looked like it had never been vacuumed, the windows had smashed bug guts on them, and when the maid came to clean our room they didn't make the bed, they just pulled the sheets and blankets up over the pillows.

Attended a conference at MSU, so location was convenient. Breakfast was good. Front desk staff was helpful

Nice place to stay as it was a suite. The bathroom needed some maintenance and we reported this to the front desk but there was no interest from maintenance (2 clogged drains, running toilet and a bathroom fan that would not run). Easy fixes but very disappointing that they made no effort to fix. Overall a good place to stay though.

Shabby shack hotel

The room we were in needed was in need of maintenance. The bathroom light was open in the ceiling and wallpaper was half taken down and painted over in those areas. The tiles and tub are in great need of regrouting and caulk. The bed was well warn and the outside buildings could use a good cleaning. It's so unfortunate that this hotel was I this shape due to such a great concept of a kitchen, living room and bed area. It would have been a nice family place to stay when we go to visit MSU.

decent little place

my family and I had a few days to stay in Lansing while visiting relatives, and this hotel offered a great value for the price... it is right next to MSU which made it ideal for good food options and other entertainment... the pool wasn't operational, but that was okay... the room could have used some updates (especially in the bathroom and kitchen)... other than that, it was a pleasurable experience. watch out for the $50 cleaning fee.

Need improvement

I was disappointed in the condition of the furniture.The 4 chairs was filthy and the carpet had cat or dog hair everywhere. Rm.522

The beds were uncomfortable. The sink didn't drain. The shower didn't drain. The bathroom had mildew. The breakfast was horrible -- microwave breakfast burritos, really?

Very nice place to stay!

My 93 year old mother, my husband & my self spent the weekend for a grand-daughter's wedding. We very pleased with our stay. Rooms were very clean, loved having the kitchen & sofa. The pool was dirty but we are not pool people. If we are in the area again, would stay again.

Charged twice for same night stay.

Charged twice for same night, once by Travelocity for $119.21 and $84.75 by the hotel. We were part of a wedding group and were to be charged the reduced price of $84.75. Hotel staff said they would make the switch and cancel the Travelocity reservation.

Terrible service

I was unable to stay there. Despite booking and paying for two rooms in advance for 2 days the hotel screwed up. They placed the two of us in different hotels 30 minutes apart even though we were traveling together. They screwed up the reservations at the replacement hotels and then lied to hotels.com when we tried to get the refund. The people at the desk were surly and uncommunicative.

Last resort only.

Poor management, rude desk clerk, door was broken and didn't get closed, Mosquitos in the room. Generally awful. Only bright spot was the employee who happened to be off duty but at the desk when I checked in. He saw my frustration and tried to make things better. My advice to him is work somewhere else.
