"We stayed at this property on 4/4-4/5. In town to visit our son, a student at UNCC. We chose it for convenience. Very close to the University. Very cheap. 90.00. Upon arrival, we were disappointed at the age of the hotel, not modern, old dirty furniture, dirty/worn carpet on floors n rooms & lobby eating area furniture, although no food is served there and hallways carpet. Dirty. Our room, 235, had a musty odor.
Our primary complaint was that, there was a USED/SOILED wash cloth drapped over the shower from the last guest. GROSS!! So housekeeping is a NON FACTOR! We didn’t see the dirty washcloth until it was time to shower the next morning. This made us feel like they probably didn’t change the sheets.
I complained to the General Manager, Dennis, who was EXTREMELY DEFENSIVE & RUDE!! He offered a 20% for the dirty wash cloth and said if I didn’t like the hotel, I shouldn’t have stayed there and should have asked for a refund when I arrived!!! How??? It was prepaid!! The contract via Expedia, was that it was no refundable at that point!
Nonetheless, I will be filing a complaint with Corporate for Sonesta. Website pics represent a modern hotel. It’s old and needs renovations that align to the website pictures and EFFICIENT HOUSEKEEPING!!
Do not stay here if you like cleanliness and a modern or up to date hotel.
