"This hotel is not far from Michigan U main campus and the downtown. Hotel check in and check out were easy. Their small convenience store was convenient for snacks and drinks. Plenty of parking as well. Our room was on the main floor. It had an awful musty smell like a wet damp basement. I'm not sure if this was because it was a rainy weekend and the parking lot was our direct view but it was not pleasant. Rooms are outdated re carpet and curtains but the beds were comfortable."

"The elevator broke down my second night and I had to climb stairs to the 4th floor where my room was. Also, the in-room coffee machine did not have coffee either of the two mornings I was there; just decaf and tea which I don't drink. Otherwise was fine"

"Breakfast wasn't good. Grits, Oatmeal, and overcooked turkey sausage patties. No bacon. Juice machine was empty and when asked they said they aren't filling it. No milk. The elevator didn't work so my pregnant wife had to use the stairs. The pool was freezing cold, filled with too many chemicals, and had a lot of trash in it touching my feet at the bottom. The place tries to be fancy but is more like a polished turd. No matter what you do to it it is still a turd. Maybe a good suggestion would be to aim toward business people or families, not both. It's almost like this place is trying to do too much as once and failing in all areas. We wouldn't even go in the pool a second time. We stayed 2 days at this place. The week prior we stayed at Holiday Inn Grand Rapids - South by IHG. Both hotels are 3 star rated. The Holiday Inn in Grand Rapids was far superior stay in all areas compared to this polished turd Embassy Suite Hilton. Lastly, I was charged $200 a day deposit. I have never had to do that. And for being such a bad hotel why would they charge a deposit anyway? This hotel is not good."
