"The building and grounds need maintenance. There's rotting window sills and rain damage on the ceiling, spots of bleach on the carpets and the doorknob of a closet came off in my hand. The TV in the room is incredibly small, the size of a computer screen. You don't come to a hotel to watch TV but like showers, you expect a nice experience. The breakfasts were ok, but not great."

"The Super 8 in Old Saybrook is located in a very convenient spot. The room in which I stayed was very clean, the bed was comfortable, and the air conditioning worked--so far, so good. The TV was terrible. The horrible reception made it almost unwatchable--there were fuzzy lines going across the screen, and the sound quality was muffled. The room had quite a few lamps, but not all of them worked."

"Whenever I'm traveling thru Southern CT on business, the Lamplighter is my go to for staying over. Clean room. Comfortable bed, plenty of Hot Water, microwave and mini fridge, good TV. Reasonable price, close to the highway. Restaurants within walking distance. It has it all."

"I stayed here, but there was no lantern or scissors provided, and the lantern in my friend’s unit was broken too. So I asked for a replacement, but I was told there wasn’t one available and to just deal with it. I asked them to help resolve the issue, but all they said was to talk to the manager in the morning. I think that is very poor customer service."

"So charming! The Inn itself is nicely furnished in a cozy manner, curated with interesting collections of things and vintage or antique objects throughout. Many charming touches, like the popcorn station with flavored oils and Parmesan cheese, were a delightful surprise. The towel warmer in the bathroom was unexpected and wonderful! "I typically don't write reviews, but my family has stayed at this location twice now. This time, the owner was extremely impolite. We had issues w/ the A/C and got not assistance. Complimentary "breakfast" was awful. I wouldn't have left this review if they were at least courteous, but they were in fact NOT."

"Really enjoyed our stay. Loved that we were able to do laundry, and the cute little welcome gifts. Walkable to dinners, ice cream and shopping. Recommend!"
