"Very quiet room besides one car alarm in the middle of the night that woke me and my partner up. Breakfast was outstanding, staff was friendly, and environment felt safe."

"The Catrina Hotel is a great place to stay on El Camino Real in San Mateo for its reasonable price and the amenities in the room. There were issues, of course. Our room, 104 had insufficient lighting in the room, and only one bedside lamp and even though the bed was comfortable, it was on this frame that had metal sides and if you tapped them with you foot, the each sounded like thunder! But we got used to it and would stay there again."

"When I entered the room, there was a strange smell. I opened the window to ventilate it, but when I came back, it was still there. Also, there was a puddle of water in the room that appeared to be leaking from the refrigerator."

"AVOID: Fleabag hotel. Dirty with reddish brown splatters on the walls. A previous guest’s plastic cup with whatever was in there dried up and left for me to find. Run down, stinks, and does not feel safe. Only here because all the other rooms in town were booked. If that happens to you, just sleep outside and save $300 a night. "

"i left my belt bag in the room but they said that it was not there i’m 100% sure that i left it in the side table of my bed. i didn’t even use that belt bag out . when i called them . they didn’t even called me back when they said that they will check, so i have to call them again. then they said that the person who clean my room was off for 2 days . now i can’t even go and check the room because they said that the room was occupied. how can i get my belt bag in the room.? "

"The bistro food is good and fairly priced for a hotel. The staff is also very friendly. My main issue was the fire alarm with its shining green light is right above the bed so it's a bit like sleeping under a spotlight. Also, the rooms are not as quiet as one would hope and, though I'm uncertain of this practice, it would seem the guests are not "spaced out" in the property allowing for minimal disturbance from other guests coming/going. The adjoining room door can be a bit unnerving in the middle of the night when a neighbor checks in and they try to open the door (or ensure its locked)."
