While the area is fantastic—we could walk everywhere and were fully aware of the usual city noise—the hotel itself was a major letdown and did not justify the high price point (around €1000 for 5 nights in a Axel Premium room without breakfast).
Our main issue was the bizarre design choice: a heavy, sound-dampening door between bedroom and entrance area/bathroom, but paper-thin windows that let in nearly 1:1 street noise. We expected a certain level of soundproofing for this price, and what we got was truly disruptive.
Beyond the noise, functionality takes a backseat to questionable design. The bathroom layout wastes space on a massive toilet area while leaving the shower cramped and providing only two towel hooks for four towels. Plus, the much-advertised "Skybar" was closed and moved to the ground floor without clear communication on the website, signage, or Google Maps—one of the key reason we booked here.
Service was minimal; basic cleaning was missed (a slightly slipery spot on the floor remained for days), daily towel exchange even though they weren't at the floor and there was no interest in our experience at checkout. For this budget and with the bunch of other issues during our stay, there are significantly better options nearby. The price promises premium; the execution delivers budget.
