The staff surprised us on numerous occasions with a romantic dinner table and breakfast table outside with candles and beanbags! "The place is (very) tired. So many things seemed to have been neglected or fixed a bit slapdash and it was disappointing as it had looked quite nice online. Our room smelled damp. The toilet roll holder was broken, the bathroom door handle and lock looked to have been replaced, and a tv once might have been up on the wall but now nothing. The mirror was held together by tape and there were signs of some wood-eating insects, with gritty deposits re-appearing on the furniture. The WiFi didn’t reach the room either. The swimming pool was still as a millpond and stank of chlorine, making me think the filter system doesn’t work/is absent. The concrete around the pool has come away in chunks in areas, one of the lounge chairs had a hole in it… you get the gist. And at no point was there ever mention (online when booking or in the pre-arrival message we received or when checking in) that the restaurant was cash only. However the staff at the front desk and serving at the restaurant were all really nice."
