"Outstanding hotel, lovely for a small relaxing by the Douro river. Breathtaking views, amazing food and very nice interior decor. Staff are great (reception is exemplary!), however I would say that restaurant staff need to improve on their English as I felt service is much better in Portuguese than English (I’m Portuguese and my partner’s English which is how we noticed this difference). Otherwise, this has inspired us to think about going to yet another Octant hotel in future (we’ve been to the one in Évora before which is also great!)"

The homey sitting area on the ground floor has comfortable seating conducive to conversing with other guests. Breakfast is diverse and excellent. "Check in was great, with a welcome glass of Port. Breakfast was perfect every morning with plenty of options and very scenic views. Room was little dated and the area itself is secluded. If you’re looking for that, than this is the spot. The highlight of the trip in Douro was the wine tour about an hour away. Beautiful area beautiful resort. "
