Lovely country house hotel set in the Thames valley and overlooking the river Thames from the surrounding hills. Nice walks around the gardens. Excellent food in the restaurant and a great full English breakfast. Room was well presented with large bathroom, shower over bath. We had a room with a separate sitting area which had great views out over the valley and river. Wi-Fi, etc worked well, two TV’s one in each room. Did not use the large pool or Spa.

We very much enjoyed our stay, the grounds and the view are breathtaking. I liked that we had a four poster bed and that the furnishings around the hotel were old in style. Everything was clean and tidy. We especially enjoyed the spa facilities. The only complaint I have was that our neighbours kept banging their door shut throughout the night, obviously this is not anything the the staff would be able to have changed but very disruptive for our one night stay. Breakfast didn’t seem to run that smoothly. We asked for toast that came out after our other breakfast order had been finished and taken away. However it was a very nice breakfast and the toast was worth waiting for.

Superb stay

We really enjoyed the hotel building, history and facilities. Staff excellent and ambiance great. Very relaxing environment with super spacious traditional room in clock tower. Breakfast excellent with prompt and attentive service. Walks around the grounds very enjoyable. Spa faciltiies looked good but not enough time on this occasion. Will return.

The hotel had beautiful views and gardens but the building was showing l poor maintenance, lack of repainting and threadbare carpet etc. The evening meal was £65 per person for 2 courses, unfortunately the quality of the food did not reflect the price and was very disappointing. There was a wedding reception at the same time and the service in the restaurant was very slow with not enough staff serving the guests.

Its a beautiful and the rooms and facilities are really good. The spa facilities are very nice. The only issue was that the lift was not working at the time and we were on the top floor, which was a bit of a struggle for my wife who had a bad knee.

Wonderful room (which we would like to stay in again) and the only tiny niggle was a poorly flushing toilet, which perhaps just reflects older plumbing arrangements. Great spa and, having stayed several times before, we noticed that the restaurant, which had always been good, seemed to have stepped up a notch into fine dining. We really enjoyed the meals, including the breakfasts, with great service from the restaurant staff. The grounds are always a pleasure to explore and not least this time in excellent April weather. Danesfield House never seems to disappoint!

Lovely old building, very interesting design, beautiful large hall inside with wood beams. Nice gardens to stroll around. The main restaurant food was great, & the bar area is very cosy. I had a special 3 night break planned and booked to celebrate my birthday, several months prior ; but a couple of days before the start day, I was informed that the hotel could only put us up for two days, and the alternatives they offered, were not suitable. So my special birthday break, was ruined by them, and although they ungraded me from a deluxe room (for 3 nights) to a duplex room ( for 2 nights), the daily rate for the 2 nights, was higher than the daily rate for three ! A pretty poor show, I hope you will agree. In the many, many years of my booking hotels all over the world, this has never happened before, and I very much hope it never will, again. But certainly, I would never use Danesfield house again.

Lovely weekend getaway

Lovely getaway…the spa facilities were top notch and the Jr. Suite and grounds were lovely. We had afternoon tea in the lovely orangery overlooking the countryside then room service for dinner and breakfast. Would do it all again.
