"The staff was exceptional. We arrived early before our room was ready and the staff took care of our luggage and directed us to a delightful afternoon tea while we waited. We blew an electrical breaker trying to use an American hairdryer and they promptly got the electricity fixed. They were very flexible with dinner reservations, working around our daytime activities."

"Fake tan stains were in the bath from previous guest. Hot water took almost 10mins to come on. Outdoor had a few broken planters and weeds coming through the floor. Kitchen was closed for maintenance so there was no food options until breakfast the next day. I could hear people going in and out their rooms until about 2am and then starting again at 6am. I have stayed previously and was impressed but this time just felt like lack of care was given."

"Lovely restored house in a neighborhood (more like a B&B). There is a bus that runs into Edinburgh proper or you can take the mile walk. The hotel gives very good recommendations for local dining. Parking can be difficult (limited on-street parking for non-residents). No eating in the rooms."

"This was one of the best hotels we’ve ever stayed at. It’s so beautiful and the staff couldn’t have been friendlier or more helpful. The food at Abacus was delicious and the staff there were also very friendly and helpful. We highly recommend the Scott."

"Delightful setting. The hotel is set back from the street with surrounding gardens. Very quiet. Very well run. Staff are true professionals, eager to help with any questions or problems. Pleasant room, although a little small, but spotlessly clean. Reasonable rates. Good value!"

"An amazing location. Staff were very friendly. Rooms were very clean and well appointed. The grounds were well manicured and vast. Restaurant food was top notch. Would highly recommend a stay. Spring for the Royal Suite to be treated with many extras!"

"Jimmy was very helpful and attentive, even welcoming me personally on check-in at about 10 p.m. (I thought I would have to do a self check-in after 7 p.m., which would have been fine, but he came to the door instead.) The breakfasts were excellent and the room was clean and comfortable."
