Casa Villamar was perfect in every aspect. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and competent. Great location just 2 blocks away from the Malecon which gives a feeling of privacy, yet close enough to the action if you want it. As far as I'm concerned, the best compliment about a hotel is that you feel comfortable and at home which Casa Villamar did for me. I booked for next year before I left. Also, the restaurant, Sano Bistro, provides a healthy and innovative menu for breakfast and lunch.

All the staff were so lovely. The front desk staff were very friendly and always ready to answer our questions. I would like to make special mention of the young staff who worked in the little cafe. They were so kind and patient with us when we used our minimal Spanish. Their service was wonderful and our drinks and meals were delicious. Definitely try the fruit bowl. Incredible. The grounds around the pool area are so pretty and it is nice to read on the big wraparound porch. The whole hotel is open and airy. Our room was basic but very clean and comfortable. Perfect location. I would highly reccommend.

Staff was friendly! There are a few things lacking in the room that will stop me from staying there again. There was a huge step up into the bathroom, posed a tripping hazard. There was no shelf or vanity top in the bathroom to put your toiletries on. They did not give a facecloth, or any extra hooks. Only 4 hangers in the closet. The fruit flies were abundant. Millions of them. I get it in the tropics but this was ridiculous. They offered to spray, but we didn't want the chemical exposure in the room. We should have gotten those fly strips, but why should we have to? It would have been a nice touch to provide a coffee maker, but there was a mini fridge that worked well. We ended up buying a kettle. There was no safe in the room, no deadbolt on the door, we just hoped that our electronics would be there on our return. But we did feel safe having a 24 hour front desk and our room was close to that desk. The bistro had great food and reasonably priced, but only open from 8 to 3. It was a decent stay, but they could spend a small amount of money to improve the experience for their guests.

Eine schöne Villa von 1925 wurde in ein kleines nettes Hotel umgewandelt. Zimmer, Pool und Mitarbeiter waren gut. Leider ist die Lage nicht optimal, da zu weit vom (begehbaren) Strand und dem Zentrum von Progreso entfernt.

It was just ok. You get only the bare minimum of essentials . 2 towels 1 for each of you and only 1 hand towel. That’s it. There is not enough plug ins , so hence there is no coffee pot in the room. It could be a real nice hotel if it was better appointed.

Very nice hotel with limited rooms. Walking distance to beach and promenade. Restaurants nearby. Very clean and tidy. Staff was very good. Small fridge in room, no restaurant, yet. Coffee available at front desk for 50 pesos....would be nice to have a coffee maker in the room like most other hotels.
