The staff was exceptionally helpful and kind. I don't think I've ever felt so welcome at a hotel! Our dog was also welcome, which was a relief.

I liked everything about the hotel, good room, great staff, good location. The one downside is the noise level. It is not so much that other guests are particularly overly noisy or partying loudly, more that tge rooms are not sound proofed, so if one is quiet and trying to read or sleep, you here everything. Don't know what can be done about it, I expect as an older building that is how it is.

The hotel was very clean, the staff was friendly, housekeeping cleaned my room every day, there's a restaurant on the first floor that is convenient. The hotel is located in a very convenient location in which you're able to walk to sightseeing sites such as, Diego Rivera Museum. I stayed in room 201 which faces the street. I had a nice view of the park across the street. I would recommend this hotel because of the very budget price, the hotel is safe and clean. That was my experience. I traveled alone so safety was my concern and, the budget, it was definitely safe, and a good budget for me at the time of my experience. They have cable TV, they have wireless internet at the hotel. It's in the city so there is going to be traffic noise but, that didn't bother my stay. Nice shower.
We had a 4th floor view of a colonial church and park. The room was comfortable. Service was very good. Very clean. Air conditioning worked great.
Neighborhood has everything you ciuld possibly want. Hidalgo Metro on corner, as well as Metro bus lines. Space in front of hotel for Ubers.
We didn't try restaurant, seemed to be good only for coffee and a breakfast buffet.
I wish I had seen that there was no refrigerator or microwave. A window opened, but it needs a screen, as a mosquito got inside; cheap upgrades.

I had a room facing the street that was beautiful for sunrise but very noise around 4am, when large trucks used their airbrakes. Interior room have windows into lightshafts that don't suite me. The room itself was nice. It takes about 5 minutes for the hotwater to arrive in the shower.
Reception staff were ok. Dinning room staff were very accomodating.

Excellent location, very good for the price and very clean. Its a very good finding and the only problem is the Internet access. Because of a nearby bank the 3g/4g connection barely works inside the building, and wifi is very bad (at least in rooms 117 and 118. To get internet you got to go to the lobby or get a ethernet cable from the computers area in the hotel.

We made the mistake of picking the cheapest room, which had only a window into an internal space. We traveled at a hot time of year and we boiled! Do yourself a favor and get a room with a street window. The staff was very nice and the room was clean. We felt safe inside the hotel, but we took a walk and discovered a very sketchy neighborhood just across the street. So get a street-facing room and take a taxi at least to the park if you stay here.

The great staff and the great location are what's going for this hotel. The infrastructure of the hotel is really bad. The walls are too thin and you hear people in the next room. The toilet doesn't always work. If you need internet connection, it's out of question.

Budget hotel
We are a family of 4 that stayed at Hotel Monaco for a week. Some pros and cons of the hotel are listed below.
Pros: check in process was fairly easy, the room is very spacious and overall clean. Our room has AC which was appreciated. Wifi was working well most of the time. The hotel is only a few steps away from the Hidalgo metro station, which is very convenient as we took public transit throughout our trip. We ate at the restaurant once for breakfast and food is reasonably priced. There is a small store a couple steps away if you need to get water and snacks, and Oxxo within walking distance. We were also given a couple of water bottles every day.
Cons: the hotel is older with minimal amenities (no fridge or coffee maker), toilet seat is broken but usable, and water pressure is quite low but hot water was running. We also saw a couple of cockroaches in the room during our stay (we didn't inform the hotel as we didn't think there would be anything the hotel could do). The area surrounding the hotel is also not the best especially at night, I would advise against walking around after 9 pm.
Overall the hotel served its purpose for rest as we didn't spend much time in our room.

Very nice large room with comfortable beds and a t.v that is easy to use. Our window was facing the street but noise was minimal. We were only going to stay one night but we liked the location (steps away from Hidalgo metro) and the line 7 bus that took us to the Anthropology museum. Restaurant was good. We ate breakfast and dinner there. The staff were wonderful and helpful. I would stay here again
